Baited by Executioner's Calling?

Often times when I'm facing a Swain/Vlad/ Mundo as an AD champ, I'll think to myself, "I know! I'll just rush an Executioner's Calling and cut their healing in half! Since so much of their 1v1 prowess is sunk into combat healing, shouldn't I win all-ins easily?"

Now I'm not so sure. I've noticed that I typically feel very weak with just Doran's Blade + Executioner's Calling. It's only when I get components for an actual item first, then get Ex Calling, do I feel strong against healing-based champs. Just today, I was playing Fiora into Swain, and managed two solo kills on him before backing to get my Ex Calling. Pleased as punch, I headed back to top only to die to a 0/2 Swain who was one level under me. Had I bought Null Magic + LongSword instead of Ex Calling, the all-in would've been ridiculously easy.

Anyone else believing in the Executioner's Calling too hard?

Ex calling is supposed to be a bad item to rush. Even champs like Swain, Vlad, and Mundo are better countered by a normal build early game rather than by reducing their healing. It's not until later into the game where their healing becomes important enough to worry about. Also, the stats on Ex calling are horrible for the price, as so much of the cost is tied into the GW passive.

Instead of rushing Ex calling, get your normal first item, and then think about whether it's worth it or not to get it then.

It's generally an item to buy later after some other core items, and defenses are stronger early since Executioner's Calling doesn't give much damage. (I've also noted that it's rarely build on non-ADC champs. Occasionally a juggernaut or an assassin will build it.) But I'm really not great at this game, so take my experiences with a pinch of salt. Or two.

you still would have mostly likely lost the all in regardless of what you bought if you died to swain with executioners calling.

if you're picking a melee champion, especially fiora. how hard you're getting kited is way more important. you could be 0/2 but if you are able to stick onto swain you're the one easily winning the all in, but if you're getting kited too hard, you could be 2/0 and still lose no matter what you build.
