Anyone Else Think Heimerdinger Might be Viable Once Zz'Rot Portal is Released?

Alright, hear me out on this. Zz'Rot Portal is a new item which gives the following...

Stats: +40 armor, +50 magic resistance and +100% base health regeneration. Grants UNIQUE PASSIVE - POINT RUNNER: Grants +30% bonus movement speed that build up over 2 seconds when near turrets or Void Gates. Grants UNIQUE PASSIVE: You gain (25% armor + 25% magic resistance) attack damage and ability power while near a Void Gate. Grants UNIQUE ACTIVE: Spawns a gate at the target location for 120 seconds (120 second cooldown, can't be placed near turrets). Every 4 seconds the gate spawns a volatile voidspawn that travels down the nearest lane. Voidspawn will behave as standard minions except they will ignore champions and explode on contact with a turret, dealing a burst of damage. After 4 seconds, a voidspawn's health will rapidly decay to 0.

A thing to note it is how the Void Gate cannot be placed near turrets so that it isn't an unstoppable lane pushing machine (which it is if the enemy cannot destroy it). But what if I told you Heimerdinger could fix that problem AND benefit from the item!? BEHOLD!

1. Heimerdinger and Zz'Rot Portal Complete Each Other Heimerdinger is extremely good at pushing since he can basically make a lane be unable to push passed a certain point. However, once he gets to the enemy turret, his pushing power stopped immediately since his turrets are destroyed extremely quickly by enemy turrets. Zz'Rot Portal fixes that! The Voidspawn made by the portal deal significant damage to turrets ONCE THEY GET THERE! If they are stopped (which is easy if the portal is far back), they are only good for killing minions. Heimerdinger fixes that problem by allowing for offensive placement of the portal since he can protect the portal with his turrets and the minions to an extent. Therefore, Heimerdinger fixes the Voidspawn's problems and the Voidspawn fix Heimerdinger's problems in return.

2. Point Runner Allows for Better Kiting (AKA Ring-Around-the-Turrets) When you play Heimerdinger and the enemy attempts to take you on on your... territory (or lawn as my friend calls it since Heim is an old man), the main thing I have seen people do is kite the enemy around in their turrets and run away if the situation gets bad. Zz'Rot Portal makes doing this a breeze! If you need to run around, Point Runner's 30% movement speed increase allows you to do so much more easily than before. If the enemy wants to destroy the portal to stop this, that is their own time wasted destroying the portal while your turrets fire away at them and you bombard them with your rockets and grenades.

3. No AP Is Really Lost for Building This The passive on Zz'Rot Portal that states you gain gain (+25% armor + 25% magic resistance) attack damage and ability power when near void portals provides great synergy with Heimerdinger since many other items that Heimerdinger builds provide armor and magic resist, namely item 3157 , item 3001 , and item 3174 . Also, Heimerdinger needs some tankiness unlike most other Mages since he needs to stay alive for a much longer period in a fight to make use of his turrets' unlimited potential damage. The Voidspawn from this item also benefit from this bonus so they also have increased synergy with Heimerdinger's usual build path.

4. A Health Regen Boost on Heimerdinger Goes a Long Way Heimerdinger has the most health regeneration in the game if I am correct since his passive no longer affects him, but he was given more health regeneration to compensate. Therefore, the 100% health regeneration boost is really good. It basically gives you a health pot at all times. Its small compared to the other bonuses, but it is still really good since Heimerdinger doesn't have many other items that give him bonus health regeneration and synergize with him.

Of course, this is all just on paper thinking. I have not tried this on the PBE yet. But still, even just looking at it just screams Heimerdinger to me. (I also know how good it would be on Galio, but I wanted to point out it's great use for Heimerdinger)

EDIT: For all those saying a poke champion can counter him, play him Top with this. I tried it on PBE and only Gnar and Ryze can deal with him effectively (maybe Urgot).

Heimer would be stronger if the item 3170 was available in SR than with this new item, tbh Whoever can kill his towers can take out the Voidlings too, whoever can't kill the towers will try to stay anyway far from him and if anything could target Voidlings to get easy gold to invest in items to be able to face Heimer fast

The nice things are the passives and the health regen, but these wouldn't benefit only Heimer(if anything they benefit more most mobile champs or shorter ranged champs

Meep Man1 votes

Voidlings don't grant gold or XP. Riot has stated that if they do it is a bug.

Also, I agree this wouldn't help him with his counters but overall boost his normal gameplay.

Heimer is a champ that has to play around his turret locations. he can't fast advance turrets to take down towers, and because of his lack of mobility he can't push too much the lane or advance too much. From the position of safety from which heimer prefer to play, Voidlings wouldn't be effective as they would probably die before reaching towers to damage them

Meep Man1 votes

Yes, but the ability to force an enemy to use minion or get into range to basic attack the turrets is already a disadvantage to them unless they are a resourceless champion (looking at Zed and Yasuo mainly due to how their kits work). Chances are if the enemy destroys your turret, any smart Heimerdinger would have gotten CDR in runes or masteries in order to place another immediately. If the enemy is killing your turrets as soon as they are spawned, they are Zed, Yasuo, or Syndra upon which you have been hard countered and you will need jungle assistance more than likely. If the enemy can outrange your turrets, that is what your W and E are for since they have to move intro range to basic attack them.

I don't understand what you mean. For the champs that can't touch Heimer, having to face these extra minions wouldn't really make much of the difference. They are already forced to farm under tower and dodge Heimer harass, their minion wave is already reduced if put in heimer turret range, but at the same time Heimer can't further advance because he could enter in danger zone and so he can't reinforce further the wave and thos champs will keep farming under tower as well as they did before

Don't fee like reading but heimer is not a bad pick right now. He destroys almost any lane. The only thing keeping him down is jungle pressure early and that is nerfed in s5 because of how hard the jungle is. A lot of people dont play him because he is honestly a boring champ. You just put down turrets and watch the game. There is very little counter play in lane if your champ cant kill his turrets also so riot has to be careful about buffs to him.

It's a tank item. And it doesn't fix the issue with his 24s CD turrets dieing to 4s CD spells.

Asking to nerf Heimer is Bronze 5 logic. Everybody to stupid to 1 or 2HKO 24s CD turrets derves to loose his lane.

Meep Man2 votes

I don't know this taochi. Asking Heimerdinger to be nerfed is stupid since he is pretty below average currently.

Nope. because i hate hiemer players and hiemer for playing the easiest champion in the game. so it wont.

Easiest champion in the game?

He has the 2 most difficult to use skillshots in League of Legends. On horribly delayed grenade with only small AoE which is useless unless you hit exactly the middle.

A salvo of DELAYED rockets which only deal full damage at a VERY specific distance.

Calling Heimerdinger "the most easy champion in the game" indicates B5 elo and 0 playtime with him.

dude you just stand there, press q ,and win nearly every lane. atleast with kat or akali you need a little bit of work. and then when people are about to kill you you zhonyas while your ult turret kills them

hell not calling that easy shows B5 elo.

i respect that you are gold, meaning you are better then me at this game. but dude, unless hes against lux, azir, or syndra mid/ Sion or Azir top lane hes gonna win lane more then likely.

Towers have 24s CD and die to a single Synra Q. Any common midlaner can kill them out of their own range with 3 auto attacks.

How on freaking earth can you loose against that?

Btw. if you standing inside his turrets while he Zhonya's that indicates enough fail. Any common midlaner can easily get rid off his turrets. If you ignore them it's your own fault.

Heimerdinger's CDs are 24s, 11s 18s. These are enough timeframes to out-trade him 3 times with any common midlaner....

Edit: I just checked. You are Bronze IV 20 wins 37 looses. No offense, but PLEASE don't blame the champion if it is you.

im not actually blaming the champion. That bronze rank is all on me. i jump into ranked before i was ready right when i hit 30 and paid for that choice dearly. it just irritates me to see people act like hiemer is hard when you could stand there and win lane. Its like when a wukong or a darius or a teemo or an akali main calls somebody a noob and says to get on their level. its beyond annoying. Thats basically what i see in every hiemerdinger. Its like the like little ugly squirrel thing is taunting me or something... i dunno i should really stay away from topics involving him i just get salty when i post about it.

Did you play him yourself? Just a question, because his W and E ARE difficult to land.

And if you focus his turrets as soon as they get up that's simply all he has to offer.

Since you seem to be open for advice: Just auto attack his turrets. Any mages outrages them If the bar is charged your run to your left or your right, the turrets WILL miss. They're incredibly easy to dodge.

As for picks: Malzahardoes a good job ( max. E) Karthus is great (Q easily destroys turrets and you can easily destroys Heimer since he has no escape) Cassiopeia destroys him (Q+E or a simple 4 and his turret is gone) Syndra wrecks him (Q auto attack or just Q if you got the farm/items will destroy a tower on 1/6th of their cooldown) also: you can reposition his turrets.

And - the most easy counterpick: Azir- you have invincible units with much lower CD. Furthermore you can destroy him with your poke (Max Q)

Either way: Kill his turrets as he places them and you WILL win your lane against him.

Edit: I just noticed most of the champions I mentioned are skillshot reliant and possibly a little bit difficult to pick up for new players.

Try Annie instead, do auto attack -> Q and the towers are gone (also refund 50% mana), E also helps to counter his R+W, while Tibbers simply kills his turrets (and him) en passant.

Edit 2: Twisted fate also is a good choice, he's more difficult to play than the others though. However - you use Heimer's turrets against him thanks to getting huge bonus gold from your passive.

hes right tho, from his perspective. in b5 heimer is easy to play.

... No ... i said you needed to work a little bit when you play them i never said they take skill. ... why the hell would i say they take skill?

Heimer is actually fairly viable already.

As far as this item with heimer... eh, I might pick it up, but it would probably be a later game item sort of buy.

Add item 3060 and that lane will be pure hell for slow wave clear champs like say Leblanc

Sorry no more roam for u

I meant on higher levels of play, but I should have probably said that from the start.

EndGamer111 votes

It isnt Heimer's turrets that give him the movespeed. This item would be good on Tankmerdinger, which, unfortunately for you, is utter garbage and should not be played, ever.

Kowe The Ewok1 votes

Heimerdinger's "turrets" don't count as turrets, they are normal NPCs like Malzahar's Voidling (e.g. you can Smite them)

EndGamer111 votes

Exactly my point. Buying Portal on him might be good as a third or fourth item on him, but if you buy it straight off, you will get destroyed. Let's not forget that Heim's turret HP scales off of his AP, so a Zz'rot rush would make them killable by one auto. The best rush item on Heim right now is item 3157 because it gives him lots of AP, some armor, and the active to sit there while your turrets kill the enemy. Since item 3060 got the 15% minion damaged removed, it is no longer a good buy for this particular yordle.

Meep Man1 votes

I know, but the Void Gate gives the movement speed as well as turrets. The whole point I was making is that Heimerdinger can protect the portal with turrets.

Also, Tankmerdinger isn't viable, I agree. However, Heimerdinger's base damages are high enough to allow for a little less building of AP and his normal items provide him with tank stats that give him enough to allow him to buy this item without sacrifice (unless you are expecting to buy only 120 AP items on him, upon which you are asking for too much and will die instantly in a team fight).
