why First Blood is so important and how to win more games

First Blood is nothing in terms of gold value. It's a measly 400 gold, maybe up to 500-600 with lost minions/assists. However, if you lose First Blood, your team rages and sucks. The entire mood of the team shifts towards negativity. The person who lost First Blood feels the need to redeem him/herself, leading to second blood, third blood, and so on.

I played a game today, coming back from a 14.6k gold disadvantage at the 21:00 mark (http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2031379215/228477491?tab=overview). Neither team comp had a clearly better lategame, the kill counter was a ridiculous 40 to 10. Even still, a 15k gold advantage is only 1 extra item for each enemy. To come back from a losing game:

  1. Never rage. If your team rages AND you're behind, the game is already lost. This is the most important part of all. When you rage, you play rashly, make poor decisions. You feel like you have to prove yourself by 1v1ing the 3/1/3 enemy Trundle. Mute every single person on your team.

  2. You will not carry every game, not even if you're duoing with your bronze III friend. When you're 0/3/0, sometimes you just have to accept you lost lane and cs under tower. Are you low? Let the tower take damage, lose two minions waves, better than having the enemy zed spamming dance in front of your dead body.

  3. Buy blue trinket and ward your entire jungle. Warding your jungle is absolutely key to making picks; when the enemy team is ahead, they're inevitably going to overextend.

  4. ROAM. I don't know why every seems to be stuck under the mentality that if you're behind, you have to stay in lane and camp turret. Push the wave as much as safely possible, then go roam. Sometimes, letting your turret die is better than getting zoned from all the cs.

  5. Ping for ganks. Once, not fifteen times in a row, when the jungler is near your lane. Sometimes, it's up to you to tell the jungler that you need help and your enemy laner is overextended. When NOT to ask for a gank: when you're half health, and the enemy laner is 3 levels and half an item ahead. Recipe for double kill right there.

Honestly, people underestimate the power of morale. First blood is often a big part of that. Too many times have we had that player that says "Welp GG" after someone dies once. Getting the enemy team to fight each other is the quickest way to win a game. If you're a jungler, I highly suggest camping a lane where flash is down. It's the quickest way to put someone on tilt, and that person that is getting camped will start cussing out their jungler. It just all snowballs in your favor from there.
