Because being able to combo an instant stealth-teleport into a combo would remove an opponent's agency completely. She'd be like Ekko in that regard, where she can dodge and jump back at you instantly.

A big goal of the assassin rework was to make their combos actually reactable, so they added small cooldowns and delays to kits that didn't have them. The specific combo they probably wanted to slow down would be W -> R which would just reduce the smoke cloud to only being a gapclose tool that extends her threat range with the other functions of it being left in the dust. Compare to Lee Sin's ward hop which completely eclipsed all other functions of safeguard so at this point people almost completely forget that the ability can be used to shield allies.

I can sorta see doing that to W R combo, but then why put a cooldown on her Q and E as well? I feel like it's just another case of adding something needless into her kit that makes her feel clunky. If they wanted to make it so her W gave her mobility, then it's very backwards to not allow her to pair that mobility with her other spells and punish her for using it instead. Very backwards thinking imo. Or maybe it was just lazy coding.

They changed Vlad's ult a while back, and locked his Q and E out for 0.25 seconds after casting R.

Some Rioters said it was a bug. Some said it was intentional to nerf his burst.

Eventually it was removed and called a bug, and by eventually I mean like four months after it showed up.

It's possible that messing with kits just introduces bugs that only show up on Live, and not internally or on PBE.

It was intentional. It was one of the original changes they made to her kit during the Assassin Update PBE Cycle. Never gave a reason as to why.

Because it is a blink with a cast time. Except for specific situations champions cannot cast abilities during other abilities cast times. In some instances they can queue them up, but they can't actually cast them.

Some champions they make this more apparent on, such as sona, where all her abilities clearly go on CD. Overall champions tend to be inconsistent in this department and don't actually show you a timer but DO lock you out of casting/aaing.

And example would be Orianna shockwave. She can't actually cast her abilities during it (though she can queue one up) it just doesn't show her abilities going on a CD.

That's not at all true.

Go into a practice game and test it, after the blink finishes it's a 0.5 second lockout. You have free movement, you can use items and summoners, you just can't cast other abilities.

Hmm really? That seems... unusual for sure.

If I had to guess why it was purely an ability lockout it would be to enforce her W as an outplay tool, not as a dash to dodge an ability and immediately start killing.

I havent said this in ages about any champion. but akali is braindead. she has a one hit rotation with a lower cooldown than any champion. she can completely 100-0 someone in lane with one item. she can build 2-3 tank items. and still 100-0 multiple people.

also after her passive changes. she is the hardest assassin to poke down in lane. she has a way better lane phase than fizz or other assassins. the heal on her passive is ridiculous. straight up a drain tank after gunblade.

the biggest thing is how impossible it is for a squishy to itemize against her. zed. buy armor. talon buy armor. diana buy magic resist

akali?. buy both reistances. completely unfeasible for a squishy champion.

darius is not hard to poke down. darius has to be massively ahead to 100-0 people. and is dependant on reset. also its more of a multiple rotations of the same spell which is his Q. and autos.

darius reset potential is not a norm and should not be looked at that way

akali Q->R->E->AUTO with a lichbane easily 100-0s people. and basically she has that whole rotation up in a cpl seconds even early-mid game

if you can't dodge darius Q while you're poking him you're not poking the right way

His healing is dependant on targets and he's extremely immobile unless he's smart and uses Q to gain speed off caster minions while in lane. Not only is he easy to poke but also easy to kite outside of laning phase at best.
