Riot are you even listening? Yet another AD boost.
I can't count the amount of people that have complained about AD being OP and AP having trouble in the current state of the game, however Riot, you decide that you take it up a notch.
New items [new] Gargoyle Stoneplate Total Cost: 2500g Sells for: 1750g Recipe: Chain Vest + Negatron Cloak + 980g +40 Armor +40 Magic Resist UNIQUE Passive - Stone Skin: If 3+ enemy champions are nearby, grants 40 bonus Armor and Magic Resist. UNIQUE Active - Metallicize: Increases Health by 40% and increases champion size, but reduces damage dealt by 60% for 4 seconds (90 second cooldown). If Stone Skin is active, the Health increase becomes 100% instead. and
[new] Adaptive Helm (What a lazy crap name) Total Cost: 2800g Sells for: 1960g Recipe: Spectre's Cowl + Negatron Cloak + 880g +300 Health +70 Magic Resist +100% Base Health Regeneration +10% Cooldown Reduction UNIQUE Passive: Taking magic damage from a spell or effect reduces all subsequent magic damage taken from that spell or effect by 15% for 5 seconds.
These 2 items, will make tanks stronger and pretty much nerf a lot of AP champions that have either low cooldowns or DOT effects. In addition, several existing items are subject to change, making for instance GA less viable for the AP class. I must say I agree that GA should be a primary ADC item and maybe some others, but I can see GA abused on champs like Tryndamere and Yasuo because of it's added AD damage. Adding AD to GA seems a bit much to me.
Abyssal scepter is getting tweaked and it's AP stat has been removed. I am oblivious of what abyssal scepter is becoming, because I can only see it on something like Amumu after the new changes. With these tweaks the item totally lost its character and it's basicly a different item.
Banshee, is now a go to item for mages, because it basicly gives them more dueling power because of its passive and it now gives AP as well. This item seems like a good thing, but it's a useless item against a mainly AD filled enemy team (which we see very often these days). I think they basicly want mages to build either Banshee or Zhonya's.
Several items are having their health stat reduced, contributing to the both the AD and AP classes, however with an eye on lethality's current state I think this benefits the AD class more than it does AP, especially due to the changes in magic resist on items and the new Adaptive Helm item.
All in all I see another update that benefits the AD class and strikes the AP class hard and I don't understand why. Yes these changes are still tentative, but they mostly stay the way they are one the PBE until they go live. Let's hope Riot has some second thoughts about these changes.
One more thing I noticed is that the game is starting to focus more and more on that one big team fight, where everything has to happen. Maybe it's to encourage teamfights and teamplay more and more, like
seems to be made solely for this purpose. And now with the new Gagroyle Stoneplate item, also endorsing big fights and the Banshee changes and the new Adaptive Helm making teamfighting more flexibel and heavily variable. However you look at it, I think team fights are going to be more chaotic and unpredictable, because there are so many things going on and more variables are constantly being added to teamfights it might get out of hand.
To be honest these look like pre-season changes, but they're not.
. It's not that hard to see; Abyssal's aura wasn't good on the majority of mages. It was picked for short ranged champions like Annie and AP assassins. This is undoubtedly a massive buff to all mages; the tank building it means that Xerath can utilize its passive without buying it and needing to go into 500 range to proc it.
's spell shield didn't do anything against AD champions.
