so this isn't actually a simple answer as it may seem since there are a lot of variables in play
for example who is the strongest person on your team? also who is the main engage and is there any disengage?
in terms of playing it safe i think you are right with the idea that pressuring multiple lanes (even if its 1 at a time) is spot on but the effectiveness of that is dependent not just on team mates but on your comp.
For example I once played with a ADC who I (support) got them really fed and they were playing Xayah and i got this guy way way ahead. He was our strongest by far and essentially every other player was either behind or even.
The Xayah didn't have TP but they kept leaving at times to go pressure a side lane (we had already secured mid inhib but the opposition was actually sieging back constantly)
Well the long story short is the Xayah would leave and ofc the other team would then hard engage on us while we were 4 and they were 5, the Xayah would try and go push up Top past river, they would do the same bot and occasionally the enemy team would collapse and kill her but We ended up losing that game because of those types of decisions.
I would say it really depends on how ahead you are and your comp, if you are even then you should fine ways to push down other lanes (not just mid) but if you are way way ahead then you may as well just 5 man group and push it down whatever lane because you should probably just win outright.
When you are ahead (far ahead) and especially with a comp that doesn't scale well, it makes sense to just brute force Mid or Baron and Brute force mid provided you all are on the same page.
If you are a comp that scales for shit then honestly I wouldn't worry too much about side lane pressure since your goal is to win asap. if you are a comp with at least some mid-late pressure then going side is fine provided your most powerful member has a way to join a fight when/if a 4 v 5 breaks out (like the example i gave with that xayah, it would be ok for her to do those things if she had TP up when she pushed but she had Heal and so it makes little sense)
Personally I try and look at the comps we have and who can actually pressure a side lane. I don't like ARAM either though, and for sure i have told ppl (after we stall out) "Hey guys maybe lets try pushing down a different objective and not just aram anymore"
sometimes they go for it, some times not.
If you feel like your team mates are constantly stalling out mid then its up to you basically to figure out how to force something, baron is always the easiest thing to force imo so thats why staying top side in enemy jg with a bit of vision around their jg is so important.
OFC many ppl don't understand how to play proactive and i think that's why if you understand it you need to let your mates know via pings or even (if you have time to) write a short sentence in chat about what can be done. They may or may not go for it but essentially all you can do is that and if they follow then great and if not well it's whateva
