Revert to previous Client ?

Nekusen··1 votes·1,008 views

After "updating" to the new client i found out the old one was much more comfortable. The new one doesn't tell you how many available chest you have. And fast edition of masteries is more sloppy.

So, is it possible to revert? and even then, will you be forced to change eventually ?

On the login page there is an option to launch legacy client, that's what I use. Hopefully they will fix up the new one at some point, though sucks they plan to remove item sets.

They're not (unless they've changed their mind), its just not a feature that will be included in the beta client. Once the new client replaces the old one, new features will be added and some old ones that are still missing will also be added back in. I don't have a link to the list of intended features they want to bring back, you'll have to Google for it.

Hey Raith alghul!

My name is Prynce from Riot Player Support. Item Sets are a feature that is not currently active on the Beta Client nor are they a feature that is planned on being active on the Beta Client.

If you have any other questions, feel free to let me know.

Got this response from Riot when I sent in a support ticket asking about item sets

(found the links. XP)

Their response is not incorrect but does not tell the whole story.

http://nexus.leagueoflegends.com/2016/12/ask-riot-the-future-of-the-client-update/

"When we first began work on the client update, we had to decide what order to build things in. Some features naturally fell to the bottom of the list based on data we gather about which client features players actually use. The features at the bottom of this list were public chat and the item set creator tool.

Those features likely won’t make it into the client during the beta, but that doesn’t mean we’re ruling out working on the features at some point in the future. Some players really like public chat and the item set creator, so it would make sense to rebuild them (or some improved replacement for them) in the future. All we’re saying now is that we can’t let those two minor features hold us in the beta."

"So, here’s your update on item sets and public chat: We can’t yet officially commit to rebuilding them because we haven’t finished the client beta. It just wouldn’t be wise to promise those features without actually having developers assigned to the task of creating them."

"4. Some of the legacy client's features haven't been added yet, but they're coming.

We have to rebuild every existing client feature for the client update, so the big challenge for us is deciding what order to build things in. Here's the full list of missing legacy client features, with current estimates for when they'll arrive in the beta client. Note that these features can easily be delayed past the given patch (that's game development for ya).

THE ROTATING GAME MODE QUEUE - coming with 6.24 SPECTATE FRIENDS - coming with 6.24 GIFTING - coming with 6.24 ACCOUNT TRANSFERS - coming with 6.24 BOTS IN CUSTOM GAMES - planned for 7.1 BATTLE BOOSTS IN ARAM - coming before open beta ends CAREER RANKED STATS ON THE PROFILE PAGE - likely to slip past open beta PUBLIC CHAT ROOMS - likely to slip past open beta ITEM SET CREATOR TOOL - likely to slip past open beta

We've heard a lot of questions about the final three features on this list (profile page career ranked stats, public chat rooms, and item set creator tool), and we agree that each of these features is important and valuable. To be fully transparent, we just haven't yet assigned a dev team to work on them, since the devs are all busy building other aspects of the client and making sure they run well. So, it's likely that these features will slip past the open beta before we rebuild them. We'll keep you updated when we can talk more confidently about these features—in the meantime, just know that we've heard players requests for them and are working on figuring it out. "

They really could have been more clear in the email I got, at least they are still adding it.

Perhaps, or perhaps the people sending e-mails are not the same people that decide what gets added and what doesn't, perhaps they have their orders to send standard form e-mails that aren't allowed to make vague promises. Or perhaps it a matter of timing. I wouldn't know.

But don't get your hopes up just yet. They have yet to promise that it will be added for sure. They have heard our pleading, they say they intent to add it, but they have yet to add actual man power to make that a reality, it is not actually being worked on. It is still possible that such a feature will not make it in the final product, because you know, other things are more important and we only have so many people and yadda yadda same old Riot spiel, oops did that feature end up in the bin oh well.

I don't believe that will be the case but its Riot, you never really know for sure.

No idea why, I use item sets all the time though so it sucks.

After the beta the new client will be standard and mandatory, so I'd just get used to it now.

Chests Earned are shown by a box-like image around the champion you've earned it on. Chests Available are shown right next to your reroll counter, under Profile->Overview.
