Am I the only one who thinks Jhin deals a little too much damage right now?

I get it, he is (for whatever reason) a popular champion and community seems to like him. However I feel he is a little bit overtuned right know, and looking at the statistics, it seems to be the case. He has insanely high playrate and pretty respectable winrate on top of that. Sure, looking at champion.gg Cait and Vayne both surpass him by winrate and playrate, however on the top of more average playerbase games. And looking at veteran jhin players - their winrate almost reaches 60%. That is, in my personal opinion, a little bit too high. When playing immobile squishy against a good jhin you barely feel you can do anything - the combination of self-peel, range and damage is just too strong. I understand that he is immobile and squishy, however a combination of his range and a good team, that protects him bring a bit too much power on the table.

I expect downvotes, cause the character is popular, however this is my opinion and I have stated my arguments. If you are going to downvote - at least offer some counter-arguments why I am wrong

His damage is high because his dps is kinda shit.

I get it, and I do not ask for him to be gutted. However I feel like it is a little bit higher than it should be

nah, i feel its right. i had a game where my friend outright dominated a jinx during the laning phase but when she started to come back, you can see the vast difference in dps compared to eachother, with a little bit of lifesteal she walked away with half health while jhin died, despite the huge advantage he had early on.

Jhin is an early game carry, he is supposed to fall of later in the game. A fed jhin can easily win the whole map until Jinx comes back from a bad early game. Also he is not supposed to be a duelist

well if you understand that then why do you think his burst needs to be toned down, thats a very fair trade of for what he has.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

I do not ask for him to be olafed, he still needs his early power, however I feel he would be more balanced if this burst was toned down A BIT. Not removed, just slightly lower

thats why i said toned down and not nerfed. on release jhin was considered pretty weak, they did some small buffs and tweaks. even toning even slightly would be either pointless or make a very big difference.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

Release jhin had problems with players not really knowing how to play as Jhin or with Jhin in their team. That's no longer the case Not saying that he has to be brought down to that level, though, but just a bit bellow what he is now

Actually tho. I outdueled a Draven in the late game even tho he had the crit build just by kiting him, and using abilities to cancel the animation of my auto like Riven . item 3094 item 3508 item 3031 item 3814 item 3009 item 3036 I don't think his damage is too high. It's just his speed.

Mostro Gallo1 votes

Sounds about right to me

Since his release, I have always used caution before proceeding to skirmish with a Jhin, especially if I am by myself

Riot clearly wants him to be a more burst-oriented ADC

I jerk off to how perfect of a champion Jhin is, but yes i also agree he's a little overtuned right now

Twitch when he gets going he literally 1 shots you from past Caits auto range and you never see him coming.

Lethality got broken with the buffs, it's getting nerfs soon.

Really?

Down to 50% i think.

Meep Man2 votes

I would reduce the slow on his ultimate. Perhaps 55-60% for 0.75 seconds instead of 80% for 0.75 seconds. I think that would make him a lot easier to play against. His damage is kind of his thing and has many trade offs, so it keeps him in check. Making it harder to land every shot of his ultimate would be a decent yet not enough to hit him too hard nerf.

Jhin has been a top tier adc since his release. You think an adc gets to be top tier for an entire season cause they're balanced? lol.

Alex h87211 votes

Nah, jihn has burst and range, to balance him for giving him that his sustained damage is quite bad, thats why you rarely see jhin building lifesteal (something many other adcs build and use much more effectively). its part of what makes him unique among the marksmen.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

I never asked for DPS, all I think is that his damage is a little bit higher than it should be

Alex h87211 votes

Also in order to pump out that much damage he has to hit his skillshots (w or r) or be in his fairly short (compared to other adc's) auto attack range. So i would say jhin is pretty dang fair.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

He could be fair design-wise however maybe his numbers are just a bit higher than they should be

Craft Zeppelin1 votes

he is a ad mage. and designed to be like one.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

Indeed, but I am not talking about his design. I stated that IMO he is a bit overtuned

How about the other way around. As i think, people who play Jhin sees something severly lacking amongst other adcs. Why not give adcs the roughly the same stuff like Jhin has? Personally I believe only cait, varus, ashe hits this mark of a sense of near to Jhin. Most adc have only cluttered kits at their disposal.

ADC are not as strong as they used to be, and that's why we do not see 3-4 ADC per team, as we used to see about a year ago. Yet I keep seeing good ADC players to carry hard their game, so I would disagree that they are as bad as people claim them to be

I was going to humor you, until I saw you feed a bronze 5 player.

His burst is high, yes there is no arguing that. But if his burst were to be toned down he would probably struggle a lot since he really doesn't have good sustained dps. Essentially his burst isn't anything special to go bragging home about. Him and Graves need high burst since they can't dps to save their lives he gives up sustained dps for burst so if his burst were to be toned down then his sustained dps would have to be buffed to compensate those changes and I'm pretty sure nobody here would want that.

SSShutTheDuckUp1 votes

I get it it is his pattern, and I do not ask for it to be changed. I just feel his burst could be toned down A BIT and him to be a bit more fair to play against

Unlucky471 votes

Yes you are. Because the entirety of the boards thinks all the ADCs are weak and half of them are jhin mains so he will probably never be nerfed again.

Targon1 votes

I feel as though his early laning phase is still a bit too strong. I think his mid game and late game are pretty fair though.

Towboat4211 votes

I'm okay with it, to be honest aside from really loving his character he never bothered me even when he was excessively strong because he has no real mobility. All that damage and range can be well and good but he is a sitting duck without a baby sitter and to me that strikes a good balance between being offensively powerful and defensively vulnerable.[slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

Jhin is unlike most carries in that he does not perform well fighting at any given time. Any other carry except Graves is just as capable of fighting during any particular stretch of the time- Jhin however has 4 shots and then has to reload. During this time- his damage is almost nonexistant. That is why his damage is allowed to be fairly high- it is situational and not always "ready". Graves has the same power but instead of range he is rewarded with tankiness.

Jhin's self-peel exists because ADCs have two things, mobility or peel- usually only one but some have both. No ADC exists without so much as a slow or movement speed buff because they're then far too weak and uninteresting to boot. Jhin has 2 slows and a snare/root. The W is very narrow precisely because it has such range and power- it's genuinely hard to hit. Because it's a powerful ability that scales with experience and skill- both of the Jhin and the Support- veteran players can use it very well. The E exists pretty much solely to set up his W alone, as an ability that outright requires an ally to use at all is poor design. Many players outright don't get the E until after their ult because when you have a support you frankly don't need the ability. Triggering it has a delay and if you auto and then fire it- the enemy is likely upon you already considering you root yourself when firing it.

The ultimate probably doesn't need a slow, however I expect without the slow the ability in testing was too hard to land. This is probably the only thing I think would need removing in terms of fairness.

As for long-range- he's not. He has a 550 range- well within reason for Marksman. His range is in his W and his ultimate- both of which are situational.

He already gets outscalsd by any other ADC lategame because he cant build attack speed and has to reload. Just like playing immobile champs against him is hard, playing jhin against dive comp is hell, he's a walking gold bag for a good engage team (malph, vi, camile, WW, hecarim etc...)
