I'm a huge proponent of toning down kill gold
Not only do I think it would fix a lot of the snowball problems we're having right now, but more importantly I think it just fits the game better.
This isn't call of duty. The objective of the game is not to kill people, its to push towers and push the enemy nexus.
You shouldn't be able to accomplish that goal by just running around murdering everyone, ending the game with 120 CS and literally zero damage to towers. But it happens all the time. Some (insert snowbally mid lane champion here) gets fed as hell by roaming around the map, just playing "see champion kill champion" and wins the game because their laners can just do whatever they want cuz their opposition is always dead.
That's not fun for anyone, except maybe the Call Of Duty mid laner. Its not fun for the winning team because its basically a free game, devoid of strategy, devoid of opposition, devoid of really anything except brainlessly pushing waves and towers for free. Winning a game in 25 minutes that was over at about 8 minutes. That's not fun, even if you're winning. At least it isn't for me when I'm on the winning team.
Its not fun for the losing team, to be sure. Everyone's trying to play league of legends and just simply cant because there's this ONE enemy that's just running around killing everyone over and over. You have to commit literally your entire team to them, meanwhile you just lose the map everywhere else. But if you DON'T respond to it, you lose anyway because the fed enemy just has free reign over everything. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Nobody has fun in those games, except MAYBE the one getting fed - and even then, you gotta get bored after a while. I know I do. After about 10 kills its not even fun anymore, you're just like "can this just be over yet?"
I've seen a lot of people go as far as to suggest removing the gold reward all together - and I'm not sure how to feel about that. But I do definitely support the idea of cutting kill reward gold in half, maybe even by 75%.
Obviously that would lead to number changes being needed elsewhere to compensate, but I'm no game designer - so I'll leave that part to the pros.
But yeah... if the objective of the game is OBJECTIVES... why do we get such a huge reward for playing team deathmatch? Why is that style of play so impactful? Why can someone going 25-2 in the mid lane basically hard-win the game for you? If the game is meant to be objective oriented, this should not be the case.
