How am I supposed to peel Rengar?

I don't have this problem with any assassin besides this one really. How are you supposed to peel him? Other assassins you can see them coming and zone them and if a tank or a support is there they can cc them but rengar he just instantly jumps on you from across the map. His W im pretty sure removes cc so if he does get cced he just uses w to get rid of it. Rengar also builds item 3814 to block the first ability that touches him. When a rengar is in the game especially when he is fed it almost impossible to keep him off and I get completely zoned from a team fight.

When I play a tank countless times I try to peel for the adc against a rengar but they still get 1 shotted regardless cause of all the cc he ignores. The tank I play most of the time is nunu and my e and my w knock up isn't even enough to stop him. He's an assassin that has abilities to remove cc. That to me seems like allowing ranged champions to passively build armor and magic resist throughout the course of the game. It completely takes away the downsides of being ranged just like how rengar having the ability to remove cc with his w takes away the weakness and counterplay of an assassin. If he just had item 3814 that would be fine but his w on top of that is far too much negated cc. Should they remove the cc negation from his W?

Edit: Just wanted to add that in solo queue where everybody is not as organized, it really takes away some his counterplay. Having your team search for rengar when he ults isn't always plausible or isn't going to happen cause disorganization as well as having your team "clump together" to make it harder for him to click on the right target. Even if that does work against rengar that shouldn't legitimately be considered counter play because its more of a player difficulty rather than inbuilt counterplay in the game. Kinda like how some skins change visual hit boxes and some abilites can be hard to see like arclight varus's ult. A lot of assassins counters are team play rather than what a singular person can do and rengar just makes it harder and more unlikely to happen in solo queue.

I like to grab exhaust when I see a Rengar in my games. Other than that, if it's a good Rengar with QSS/EoN, you're pretty much stuck praying exhaust is enough to make him leave your adc at 20 hp.

Idk if its the right way to do it since im pretty low elo but I try to find out where he will come from. It can be done kinda easily from just shuffling positions ans seeing who is closer, then find him and cc him before he can jump onto the carry. Either that or retreat and make rengar either have to jump in solo or miss his ult and have no way to enter the fight propperly

Later on in the teamfight phase when you see rengar ulting back off as a team and hug together so he has a harder time clicking the right target

Play poppy support and sit on adc, wait until he pops ult and press anti-jump, then shove away from adc

A ball of yarn should do the trick.

Been playing rengar a bit lately, these are my tips:

  1. Ward. It seems kinda condescending to say, but his ult is camo instead of invisibility, so warding well will let you know where he's coming from.

  2. Pay attention to the marker. When he ults, the marker appears on the nearest target. Based on that you can assume where he's coming from, though you should be prepared for that to change if he loops around. But it does let you track him, and moving closer as a tank will either force him into vision range for you to cc (if he Ws he loses ult leap) or force him to burn the ult on you, which should result in him dying to whoever you were protecting.

  3. Don't go near bushes, don't chase into an unwarded jungle. Thats where the rengar be. Ping "danger" to allies that do this.

  4. Shields are pretty effective unless he gets super fed, which happens when the rengar plays well. But shields can protect early to lower his kill potential and snowballing.

  5. Knock-ups and other displacements. Can't cancel those with W.

  6. Terrain creation can be effective, but only in some cases.

The important thing to remember is that rengar's job is mainly to get picks. He's feast or famine as well. The important thing is to stop him from getting kills early, all of the above should help with that. If you can't stop that, your only option is to group up; rengar has an engage tool with an extremely low CD (the time between leaps is based on attack speed) but he can't use it without vision of a target and he must be in a bush or be using ult to use it. This means a rengar who used ult to kill someone in lane has no escapes. The best way to deal with that is to have someone who can survive his burst but can also retaliate. Imo i think Nasus is decent, and Camille seems to be the bane of me early game. I'm sure there are other, better picks though.

Or you could just play Poppy .

As others people mentioned, exhaust is good, not picking mage supports helps, warding (especially control wards). Aside from that, there’s not much you can do by yourself. Obviously having an ADC who knows to not run around by himself, especially without vision, is a great thing, but that’s impossible to control. You can ask your team to help ward, though.

If you a squishy its more than doable but you shouldnt be able to by yourself people should have to actively protect you and thats the price you pay for wanting to play the most powerful influential champion/ role.

I like to use Shen. The W is basically invulnerability against auto attacks and Rengar is an auto heavy champion as part of his rotation. You can also just R the person he jumps on and build Knights Vow to help even more.

To add to that sometimes if you are fast enough you can taunt his jump. Sejuani also can Q his jump and then R him when he lands on someone.

Have to admit Edge of Night makes it complicated though. That item probably shouldn't exist.item 3814

Honestly- If he gets even a little bit ahead and gets EON you can't really peel him off your AD until both you and your AD get items. You'll need summoner 3 item 3190 item 3109 and them to get summoner 7item 3046 item 3026item 3047 to reliably save them as a tank. They'll have to have either GA or phantom dancer + heal off CD and you'll want locket and exhaust off CD. If they're not off cd, play extremely far back on the map.

Supports, Locket, tanks, AOE CC, knockbacks, knockups, Zhoyna's.....there are definitely a lot of options.
