Ranked after taking some time off

I have never been good at this game, but ranked has always been a big deal to me. I like the competitive aspect of league, which is why I have played so much of the game. I have spent thousands of hours and dollars playing this game and it has been a combination of fun and misery. The fun is from all those times playing with friends and messing around in ARAM, 5v5 ranked, norms or maybe duoing with a buddy. Or the rush I got from hitting that next new rank for the first time. Misery from all the set backs I had in ranked or pointless arguments I got in with random strangers in different games. Or the times I got upset at a champion or player in my game for just outright beating me.

At the end of the day none of that has really mattered though. Unless going pro my rank has never mattered. The only person it matters to is me and I spent too much time worrying about my rank rather than just enjoying life and having fun. I have taken a couple months off with only playing League once in awhile and it's been refreshing. Its cool that Riot keeps making changes so the game is always changing. Even with a short break jungle feels a lot different than it did last season, and what champions are "weak" & "strong" constantly change. I personally became a jungle main last season and my favorite champ to jungle with is Vi . I had a lot of fun and success playing Vi jungle on multiple accounts in low elo last season. I felt kind of "dirty" early this season when she had one of the highest jungle win rates and was being played by many people. I wanted to try something different so I was playing different characters and roles but wasn't really winning. This is where fun vs rank come in. I knew if I kept playing Vi I could eventually get back to the rank I was last season. But I was sick of playing her. Ultimately I was just sick of the grind that is ranked.

And make to mistake. Ranked is a grind. it takes hard work, dedication, and perseverance to rank up. Even if you are the best League player in the world, you still have to play many games a season to get your rank to match your skill. I personally just got sick of the grind and now am in "you do you" mode. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that. People get so damn mad in this game it's honestly really crazy. Instead of getting caught up in all the "what champion is best" or talking crap to my teammates because insert reason here, I am going to focus on playing my best and having fun. At the end of the day the rest doesn't matter.

I actually started muting everyone on my team. I used to only mute toxic players but... I just find it more refreshing just muting people in game. I am low elo... they are low elo.. none of us are close to pro level and that's ok. Every game people get upset and start talking smack about who is worse when in reality we all are complete crap compared to the pros. So why not just enjoy where we are at and have fun? If you want to be a pro... well then put in the work and the time. But just because you want to be xxx rank doesn't mean your teammate does or if close to that skill level. I don't care if I didn't give you the best leash or I should have done xxxx. We are currently silver 3 motha ucka.....

If you really into this game and really into ranked, then you do you. But it's on you to improve and get better. Don't take your frustration out on your teammates. If you just want to play casually then go play normal. Or if you want to play competitively but don't want to rage, mute everyone but still try hard. You shouldn't play ranked if you not going to try, but winning should also not come at the cost of missing out on having fun or increasing stress/anxiety.

Although I am excited to spend more time doing other things in life, I do look forward to still playing some LoL. However, instead of stressing out about my rank I am going to play to win, but not to rage. Raging isn't fun and getting back to "gold" lul isn't worth getting upset about. If I make it... I make it... if not... well I am sure there were a lot of noob moments both by me, my team, and opponents to laugh about.
