I actually don't care if you play mage support at all

as long as you build sightstone and red trinket to help out with vision, I honestly don't care if you are playing zyra brand or velkoz.

I play lots of Annie and Lux support in ranked (Silver). My policy is this.

If there are 2 other people on the team who are/were Gold, then I go Support with Sightstone and Frostqueen's Claim.

If there aren't, then I just go full AP damage.

Because odds are, the rest of my team can't be counted on to deal the damage and won't benefit much from the vision due to their mechanical shortcomings. The team benefits more from an off-meta potential damage carry.

This guy is right. Technically when you're in low Elo, anything works. I won 3 bronze games in a row playing marksman VELKOZ in the botlane.

I'd say you do better as a Damage Support in low elo (if forced to play Support).

On average, you'll only get the ADC/Mid champs worth Supporting for (ex sacrificing damage and going for sightstone + hard support items) like 1 out of 3 games. In the other two games, you're just sacrificing damage for nothing.

At least when you go full damage, you have a decent shot at carrying every game in there with sheer mechanical and tactical superiority. Warding and playing with Righteous Glory etc won't do spit if the reason your team is losing is just sheer mechanical incompetence (hey guys... MAYBE you should try not walking into every single Lux bind or get provoked into a bad hard engage EVERY SINGLE time some form of scary looking poke hits a tank).
