So why not just make towers do % health damage?

My buddy told me that the reason so many tanks do % health damage is so that they can duel each other. So as far as towers go, why not just make towers do the same? It shouldn't be absurd for towers to do %health because that way you can still feel safe under tower if you're playing a squishy and Chogath decides "haha my 6k hp health will last forever under this tower" or Garen decides "I'm going to take like 15 tower shots, so I can still dive you"

It WOULDN'T be % health true damage, just % health damage, so they're still going to do less to champs with a lot of resistances.

Really though, why should a tank be able to come up to the two nexus towers with no minions nearby and take like 15 tower shots while his/her team destroys them. That's not cool.

Because a tank taking the tower shots is a legit strategy.

Although the other day when I was playing full tank Ornn, I found that after a few shots, the damage didn't seem all that threatening anymore. I'd say just have the stacking damage do more than it does so even the fattest tanks can't do it forever.

What part of that is a strategy? "These turrets don't do any damage to me so I'm just going to dive under it" Tanks like Cho and Garen deal tons of true damage. Saying that them being able to dive under towers and kill you is a legit strategy is like saying Master Yi spamming Q in URF is a legit strategy.

Okay, let me re-phrase that.

A tank taking the shots from a tower instead of your low health carries as they continue fighting is a legit strategy. I do this often when I support as Tahm Kench and gives my adc minimal danger.

Just make turrets do half magic and physical damage this prevents super tanking with huge amounts of armor that people dislike so much and makes it so when tanks are against magic damage dealers they can still tank properly with magic resistance items in the early game when diving.

I don't think that would solve 5 man mid dives when you team is desperately trying to hold turret, even though the game decides it is a better idea to abandon.

Nothing will or should solve 5 man mid dives other than proper team cooperation unless riot makes towers so overpowered that it kills everything in 5 shots or less

I mean if it is 5v5 under our turret, and we cc the guy with aggro. I would hope he dies. Yes I know often it is someone tanky, but Graves, Darius aren't that tanky and neither is early game support Maokai.

I concur

It is worse when a squishy dives you. But yes, the turrets need to start attacking all enemies, or need to protect you frm dives somehow. We have chain cc'd pseudotanks before and they still walk out at health and we have 3 dead.

Let's just make turrets act like both forms of jinx q, vayne w, Swain e, slow thier target 15%, and do mixed damage. Gg moderate. Problem solved.

Cause tanks are supposed to TANK things like turrets. It's squishes that shouldn't be able to survive under tower. Buffing flat dmg would be a better option. Maybe making it ramp up quicker so that only tanks can handle it for more than 2-4 shots.

But there's a problem when you're playing a squishy champion like an ADC and some tank comes in with item 3075 and item 3143 and can still kill you, while walking out. Like Chogath,Garen,Darius etc. Darius and Garen are bruisers, but they only really need item 3071.

I don't see a problem with that. If you are losing to a full tank under tower in a 1v1 then they are way ahead of you. The 3 you listed are 2 non tanks and 1 OP abomination(currently). This is all hypothetical circumstances so there is really no point in arguing whether this is a thing that should/could/does happen regularly. However, if all garen and darius have is item 3071 for def then adding % dmg won't do anything and flat dmg increase will protect you better(protection is certainly not something adc's lack right now)

there is no issue with tanks and fighters being able to tank turrets lategame. thats what they itemized for.

its far worse that squishier and mobile champions can take almost no turret damage early game because they juggle turret aggro and reset that retarded heat up mechanic that ive hated ever since they added it.

if you want to give turrets meaning and actually protect you early game, then remove the heat up mechanic and have them deal full frontloaded damage from the first shot again.

There was this time when I was play ARAM and i had TahmKench. i ulted behind the enemy to the nexus towers and tanked it while Vayne shot them down. It was the ultimate back door.

you might not agree with my post, but don't say there's no issue with tanks tanking towers late game.

Lol @ the people saying that tanks should be able to tank things like turrets. You shouldn't be able to tank both nexus turrets at the same time while your team melts them, and that's late game. Mid game turrets barely deter champions like Garen and Cho'gath which is why they often end up past ur turret and box you in and then walk out. It's not threatening at all.
