Idk, maybe because buying tank items make you more durable than buying damage items. So the kill score doesn't really matter compared to items and farm.

The double Zeal items actually maximize Cait's damage because her passive scales with crit damage.

You still havent answered how you can afford to itemize against a 13/5 carry as a 2/8 tank

They maximize Cait's damage in general/in theory, yes. If she was attacking a non-armored training dummy that would not fight back.

However, in the real world and against a tank with that equipment, she would not need theoretical max damage, but rather good real damage and some modicum of Lifesteal to survive long enough for the kill.

It doesn't matter if Caitlyn kills Maokai in 6 or 8 seconds if she only survives for 4 seconds against him.

maokai had more item giving HP than that and Maokai was full health while caitlyn was already half hp when the fight started

don't expect an adc to kill a tank without lifesteal items when the adc is already half of hp and before item 3033 item 3036 , offensive itemization outscales defensive itemization but only after you buy those items

cait passive followed by crit makes her hitting around 700 damage with 180 ad and with 200 armor you reduce this to 200 damage, with 10% lifesteal you gain +20 hp each aa which is indeed terrible

now if she had 300 ad, make the same formula and you will get 350 damage nearly which is +35 hp with each aa

combine this with lord dominik regard: +15% damage 45% bonus armor pene

and tell me your lifesteal

instead, let's just build full crit

Additionally, the fact that the Cait is 13/5 to begin with says a lot about the balance of that champion. Note, it took maokai FOREVER to actually kill cait. AND the only reason he was able to stay up as long as he did was his passive. Had that been most other tanks, he'd have died very quickly.

Well actually, generally speaking they are.

Late game just about any ADC will crush almost any tank 1v1. The only ones who can really duel ADCs reliably are Malphite and Rammus, who specialize in dumping on ADCs. Maybe Shen.

Additionally, the fact that the Cait is 13/5 to begin with says a lot about the balance of that champion. Note, it took maokai FOREVER to actually kill cait. AND the only reason he was able to stay up as long as he did was his passive. Had that been most other tanks, he'd have died very quickly.

Alternatively it could say a lot about Imaqtpie's skill as a player. Someone getting fed does not necessarily imply that they are playing an overpowered champion.

The concept of the "glass cannon" ADC was not meant as a 1v1 role. The concept was for them to be protected. The fact that ADCs can buy a BT with warlords and face tank anything that comes at them is absurd. I'm not sure what other people got out of that video but if you watch the whole thing it shows the ridiculous strength of ADCs when played well with a competent support.

And generally speaking they do need to be protected.

Just not from a solo tank. Tanks aren't good duelists against champions with sustained damage.

Unless you are Vayne, most divers, juggernauts, assassins, skirmishers, and some mages will be able to beat you 1v1.

I do not give a single shit about dueling a full build Caitlyn when I am Yasuo, Tryndamere, Nasus, Fizz, Wukong, Xin Zhao, Jax, Master Yi, or even some piece of shit like Aatrox.

But tanks? Lol, I'd have to be crazy to try to 1v1 a late game Caitlyn as, say, Sion.

He was protected. None of the enemy carries got to him. The idea of a tank like Maokai is to initiate the fight and to catch an enemy so your carries can kill them. It's NOT supposed to be a tank soloing a fed carry. Thats BS and doesnt make sense

he also kited out and then took a leona ult straight to the face. he already escaped, got into a position where he can auto attack and then fucked it up.

he got hit by the center of the ability, got stunned, took the damage, and then took additional damage when mao triggered her passive with his w, adding to a good amount of burst on a low health carry.

thats why he died. working as intended.

you can see later, how his team cc's the maokai and he just stands there, right clicking and taking him down within seconds.
