Free Champs gained too slow of a rate (math included)

I was talking to a friend to try and get him to play league and he laughed at me when I told him how long it takes to unlock every character. I understand riot doesn't need to give away free stuff but lets look at the math of how long it takes you to unlock ever character for free based on what I have done.

Total League Games played: 2931 Characters Owned: 129 Characters Unowned: 17 Average games per character unlocked: 22.72 (2931/129=22.72)

So with how I am gaining everything I have to play 23 games to get 1 new character. Now lets put that into a time perspective:

Scenario A: Average game length 15 min Scenario B: Average game length 20 min Scenario C: Average game length 30 min A: 340.8 min (22.7215) B: 454.4 min (22.7220) C: 681.6 min (22.72*30)

I will get a new character somewhere between 5.5 hours and 11.36 hours depending on how long games go. So to unlock every character I need to play 803-1658.5 hours. Now this time will go up as this is only in game time and has no time waiting for a game, draft phase, and end game screen.

I am all for a slow unlock process but it should be a tad quicker. I never feel like I am making any progress with how slow the system is currently. I have put in about 732.75 hours. That is longer than Final Fantasy games to 100% and they are RPG games.

the general advice people get when wanting to learn the game is to one trick 1-3 champions now considering you are lvl 202 id assume you are past the phase of wanting to learn the game

when the IP system was in place over the current BE system a game would net you on average 80 to 150 IP based on game length champions had the same costs but converted in IP

i've played the game like 20% more than you and i can currently unlock every champion if i disenchant my shards. I've also bought the urfwick for 150k be and have 12 rune pages

bear in mind before the BE swap we had to purchase runes and pages on top of champions 1 full Rune page would go from 4800 to 7800 IP and you would need 6-10 to play the game comfortably so i would say buying champions is far faster especially when you consider the fact that you can purchase a champion for half cost with a lucky shard

They did some change to it when they introduced crafting and now it feels like it takes so much longer. I think most likely if you are disenchanting all your champions from loot boxes etc. that you might be gaining them at a more normal rate but also mastery cuts into the BE. Prior to the change I'd get a new champion about once a month playing a lot, now I pretty much never purchase new champions even over the course of a year because just a couple of purchases seem to clear a years worth of BE.

No idea about the math behind it but it felt great before crafting and for a long time now has felt very stingy. Before I could also afford rune pages and runes and new champions. The loot boxes rewards are weighted towards cheap champions which results in huge stacks of 80 BE champions which don't amount to much so I'm not sure it actually equalizes at all.

With Runes being large factor, It took me Years to unlock every champion. The current System is a bit faster then early seasons. Its a good deal slower then when you could exploit hextech shard rerolls to unlock high value champions at a fraction of the cost.

Imo, Having the Store being set to % for BE cost and droping values down as new champions are added more rapidly is a good method for dealing with an ever expanding pool. Example. 20% lowest cost. 20% low 20% med 20% high 20% highest with the small 7800 first few days of release being the cap.
