god this post got 82 fucking upvotes. ITS NOT FILL UNLESS ITS ALL ROLES. Sorry man, but you get support after picking fill for a reason.

BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO SUPPORT.

swear to god man. some people shouldn't be allowed to post on these forums

first off.. people who DON'T want support, DONT pick fill.

so adding an option to remove any role from the fill (in your case support) will make ZERO DIFFERENCE to support. and it will mean other players who WANT a particular role are more likely to get it because instead of nearly EVERYONE picking two roles, a LOT more people will pick FOUR roles. making que times MUCH faster

second people like me who are WILLING to play support and cant play another role (like adc) can now PICK fill. instead of maybe choosing two roles without support being one of them.. and therefore INCREASING the amount of supports it can choose from.

your idea that this will make ques "longer" is based on the assumption that people currently picking "fill" are the people getting support every game. which is flat out false.. people DON'T pick fill if they don't want support, and people DON'T pick fill even if they are WILLING to support if it might give them a role they REALLY don't want (such as ADC).

so no matter what. you are getting more support players, and you are getting more people with "4" roles options instead of two.

there is ZERO POSSIBILITY if this increasing que times. in fact it should DRASTICALLY lower them.

That's why they say fill except one role. It means you will fill any role EXCEPT the one you choose. It's not hard to understand.

Best not to speak in absolutes without having facts to back it up. Support mains exist making you and your statement wrong.

Just because there are support mains, doesn't mean they want to support.

I'm a support main, And I actually enjoy going support. There is no feeling better than getting senpai adc to notice me when I help him get kills.

I never said there weren't people that like to support lol. I was just pointing out the flaw in sheldon's comment. He wants to call out the OP for "speaking in absolutes without having facts", yet he makes a completely faulty logic claim. Just found it ironic was all lol. Kind of like the people that say "your stupid."

No, I just assumed that people were intelligent enough to read between the lines instead of me hand holding them. My mistake. I forget this is the LoL forums.

{quoted}

The amount of support players is tiny compared to the rest of the player base. He was not saying literally no one out of the millions of players.

And yet they stated it like this:

{quoted}

BECAUSE NO ONE WANTS TO SUPPORT.

That statement is a fallacy. Had they phrased it differently then it would not be.

I Go Pew Pew Pew1 votes

So wait wait.....you criticize OP for saying something like "no one wants to support" when he obviously doesn't mean not a single player out of everyone that plays League. He assumed that people were intelligent enough to read between the lines. But then you say you didn't want to hold hands with your statement that was also a fallacy. You are a silly hypocrite xD

Nowhere in my statement was it an absolute but nice try at the fail logic. Phrases like "no one" are an absolute.

{quoted}

Support mains exist making you and your statement wrong.

Please show me where the language used was an absolute. I don't see myself saying all support mains. By any support mains existing, a portion of them enjoy and willingly choose the role. In fact all it takes is once person ever to prove the statement wrong.

As for hypocrisy, that's a wonderful character trait all of humanity shares. We just each are about different subjects at different points in our life. This isn't one of my times, but i'm sure i'll get around to it sooner or later. Such is the nature of man.

Thank you. I'll take that as a compliment since I have not taken any courses in business.

I just like logic and reason and have learned through very painful life experiences why you don't speak in absolutes lightly.

But then why did you say that "nobody wants to support" is wrong because "there are support mains"? Maining support does not automatically mean that you want to support. You might very well hate it, but it happens to be your best role.

As I already stated:

{quoted}

By any support mains existing, a portion of them enjoy and willingly choose the role. In fact all it takes is once person ever to prove the statement wrong.

I took the shortcut and implied as opposed to outright spelling it out in detail.

[{quoted}](name=I Go Pew Pew Pew,realm=NA,application-id=3ErqAdtq,discussion-id=rdwv7Kim,comment-id=0001000000000000000000000000000000000000,timestamp=2016-08-06T15:59:24.295+0000)

You might very well hate it, but it happens to be your best role.

Mainly playing a specific role and being a "main" are two very different things. Mains typically breathe, eat, love, and live for the role. They're enthusiastic and passionate about the role.

Just because there are support mains, doesn't mean they want to support.

Correct, but the implication that no one wants to support was a fallacy. Support mains, as in people who have mained the role, not one specific support champion, for multiple seasons do do so because something about that role keeps drawing them back.

And if you still wish to be anal retentive, i'll simplify. OP stated no one wants to support. Well I do. Thus their statement is false. As said, don't speak in absolutes without being able to back it up.

the problem is fill = support at this point

people want a mixture of roles... with out just getting support every game...

if it was an even 20% distribution i would fill more often... even if it was like a 40-50% chance to get support... but if you fill your getting support easily 80% of the time

because maybe 5% of the playerbase is dedicated support mains. which means theres a stark need for supports, which means if you fill you're gonna support.

THATS WHAT FILLING IS

Except those random times when the person gets jungler (supposedly the second most common role when filling) or a different role. The thought usually strikes me that if I, a support main, didn't get put into their game, they might have been put into the support role instead.

if you wanna get support play fill... but a lot of players select fill to get a mixture of roles... not just support... so what they're saying is give us an option to have a mix of roles which fill-except would do(becasue you can opt out of the fill= support issue)...

it's not an issue with fill it's that we want another option to get a mix of roles which doesn't exist now... because you get your 2 roles or fill( which is support and offers no variety)

I don't think you're understanding what we're saying we have no problem with fill we understand fill means fill the least popular role

however fill is the only way to have the potential to get assorted roles, however fill doesn't work in that manner so we want a way to get assorted roles (so not a 90% chance of getting 1 role with 2.5% of getting the others) and the easiest way to do that would be through a fill-except system

you could use a check box system such as check the roles to queue for (must check 2)

however that would require serious algorithm rewriting were fill-except would not

i don't think you understand taht fill is not intended to be "get an assortment of roles"

it's intended to FILL roles that need to be FILLED. which 90% of the time the role that needs FILLING is SUPPORT.

typically i will select the main role i want to play which is usually top or adc and ill choose fill and secondary because i am a support main. everytime i have done this its more likely then not to get support over the main role i chose or the other two roles i didnt want. but that problem wouldnt stop if you had fill but ______ role. because people would gladly choose fill and choose not to fill as support. so you still have a lack of people choosing support. the reason why queue times take longer then they use to is when you have 5 roles to chose all the roles are chosen evenly.

for some stupid math lets say a 100 people clicks on play game they choose the roles they want out of that 100 23 choose top 17 choose jungle 27 choose mid 18 choose adc and the other 15 choose support. as you can see 23 17 27 18 15 isnt evenly distributed into the queue so if in order for the game to fill a team it has to have a player for each role. you are gonna wait longer as a top or mid player for a game compared to adc/jungle or support.

so after 15 games are made there are no more supports in queue so now we are stuck with 8 tops 2 junglers 12 mids 3 adcs so to make the 16th game who every chose fill would automatically get support. lets say it pulls from mid because it has the most in queue. now we are left with 7 tops 1 jungler 10 mids 2 adcs and 0 supports, then another game would leave with 6 tops 0 junglers, 8 mids 1 adc 0 supports now we have two roles with no players so it has to fill two roles now we get 5 tops 0 junglers 7 mids 0 adc 0 supports and it happens again but now we need to fill 3 roles so you end up 4 tops 0 jungle 5 mids 0 adc 0 support.

so as you see the role with the most popularity has the longer queue time for a game for their role and after so long of match making and other roles not have enough players in that role the role that is over filled is most likely to be pull to fill. and they will fill the roles with the least numbers which is typically support. ( this is just an example not exact #s) but you can see where the probability of getting support if you chose fill is more likely then any of the other roles.
