Funny story, your laning success does not necessarily reflect your skill as a player.

it is but one facet and "winning your lane" in itself isn't always a great thing for every champ anyways

This thread is for all the "I always win my lane its all my team's fault" people

Well yeah, you can earn a significant gold lead in lane but it's more about how you apply that gold lead as opposed to how much of a lead you have.

Leetri1 votes

Very true. It doesn't matter if you have perfect CS and a 5000 gold lead if you can't put all that gold into use.

Volgorath1 votes

I agree. If you can't close the game out with the lead, the lead shrinks over time, until you eventually throw the game. Happens too frequently...

Winning lane doesn't win games. Trashing lane and chain-ganking top while your jungle camps bot however, goes a long ways. ;p

Darius What Fizz Are Zed You Riven Talking Yasuo About???????

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

{quoted}

Darius What

Struggles to carry, in fact some considered it a won game if darius stole most of their kills

Fizz Are

Just because you won your lane as fizz doesn't mean you're good at the game, additionally just to avoid the obvious misguided response, assuming you would give one, the strategy with fizz wasn't to win his lane, he just needed to get where he needed to be fast and go gank lanes and rush to end the game faster than the slower paced team strategies could handle. He usually didn't actually "win" the lane and even when he did it wasn't because of a won lane that he was strong since he could lose lane and do the same thing, often because he was building to win instead of cheese his opponent.

Zed You

I don't get it

Riven Talking

Riven winning lane tends to not actually be that abnormal or meaningful as she will just fall off later

Yasuo About???????

same as riven only he has a better chance of carrying depending on the enemy team comp.

Yasuo gets hosed regardless of how he does in lane by some comps though. If you always build to specifically win lane as yasuo you will put yourself at a disadvantage I imagine since he is so easy to kill when you are not intentionally building to survive and deal enough damage

GULAG 4 U1 votes

He's joking around you know.

GULAG 4 U2 votes

Yes sir. Fuck this kid. He's pathetic.

IPromiseTomorrow2 votes

Yea I am joking. I wanted to put these champs up here since the people who play them are all about. Plays, Outplays, Mechanics, First blood, 1v5 under turret. Then.... Oh no, f*** I lost the game because my team wasn't doing well after I only killed the midlaner 20 times!

Salt pores out from mouth

That's the joke really lel

CerealBoxOfDoom2 votes

I've noticed that usually if you are killing the same champ 5 times during laning that's a bad sign that you may be misusing your time unless the other guy is a complete idiot

IPromiseTomorrow1 votes

That's what I learned after playing Yasuo, Zed, Azir. Sooo many times. I have been consistent in lane due to how much I stressed out about it in the past.

I get what your post is, I added this comedic post for some fun. :^)

CookyPrince3 votes

Riven doesn't really fall off though, she still holds some presence especially in team fights

Zerenza1 votes

Yasuo falls off? Dafuq? He's a late game hyper carry with a strong laning phase. I honestly don't think your a laner, you obviously don't know what yasuo is.

(PSA: to the yasuo mains who will downvote this, didn't say he's OP, just said that he's a hyper carry.)

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

yasuo isn't game hypercarry

a lot of games just don't reach lategame is all so a lot of champs seem to not fall off.

However he's one of those cases where something specific will need to shut him down lategame or you will need a strong close out strategy. Which some players aren't coordinated, knowledgeable, or mechanically talented enough for

Paladin 0f Life4 votes

Initially though its a good start but teamfighting wins games. Therefore, if you have more gold and more farm and thus more dmg and ability to tank than you should technically win

CerealBoxOfDoom6 votes

advantage != skill

having an advantage in early to mid fights in 100% of your matches isn't necessarily a sign of your skill.

In fact I've found that I can actually win lane by hurting my own gameplay against not very good midlaners. I've also found that a lot of times the build and setup that makes a champ good at winning lane wont necessarily win teamfights or get objectives... you'll be a great duelist but what if they don't want to duel you and can win without doing this.

But you will have more gold and levels yes

bony whimsark1 votes

basically you can take ignite top or take teleport top.

Chatillon1 votes

I hate how i know what != means...

Chatillon1 votes

oh i learned that from basic java, not whatever that is...

Does my laning experience and its relation to my performance have nothing to do with gameplay?

1 800 Top Lane1 votes

Was a joke bud. If you couldn't taste the sarcasm..

ItsOrval2 votes

What does the video have to do with the title btw?

CerealBoxOfDoom3 votes

its a video of bronze players occasionally winning against a diamond player in 1v1s

This is a sortof demonstration of the fact that there is more to the game than winning lane. Like a lot more, this diamond player makes so many mistakes and yet he is so far ahead of these people.

Its watching a good chess player play against a bad player with perfect memory if you've ever experienced something like that. They memorize some part of a collection of textbook stuff but never understand what comes beyond this nor do they ever seem to understand the concept of retrospect analysis unless they've taken the time to memorize as opposed to learn.

These people who say "oh but I always win lane so it must be everyone else" are potentially doing something they could get away with at any rank and still lose. The reason is because your laning "victory" does not necessarily mean you had a better performance.

ItsOrval1 votes

Ah ok, that makes sense.

Jungle Lux God1 votes

What it does reflect is your skill in the laning phase. That doesn't win games by itself, but being good at getting ahead in the laning phase helps you out when you teamfight later on. However, if your teamfighting is bad then your laning strengths won't translate into a big advantage, and the gold advantage you got from laning will just even out your teamfighting deficiencies.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

not necessarily that either. Just because you're 30 cs and 1 kill ahead of irelia or akali isn't going to mean a whole lot if you did it by building a ton of damage on a champ that will need to be tanky later for example. What it reflects is your capacity to "win lane" not necessarily your actual skill in lane. If i'm building to win and I'm building MR against tryndamere and keeping up I will probably still lose lane even though I'll he ahead in development. Similar to a gambit in chess

Jungle Lux God1 votes

That's a pretty good point.

Only Play Darius1 votes

Not all champions can make a smooth transition out of lane into teamfights though, Wukong is a bad example as he is known for making impactful plays in teamfights despite usually doing poorly in lane.

CerealBoxOfDoom4 votes

wukong is a good example BECAUSE of that actually.

Remember this thread is for that guy who says "I always win lane so it must be everyone elses fault"

ItsOrval1 votes

How to rank up

Bronze Elo: Get Fed, GGEZ Silver Elo: Suicide bomb enemy towers getting as many objectives as you can, you will win 9/10 due to all the territory control you have. Gold Elo: Farm cs as much as possible. Platinum Elo: Tilt your enemy laner. Diamond Elo: Farm cs, trade effectively, teamwork. Masters/Challenger Elo: Focus on team gold. Whoever has the most gold on the team usually wins.

This is my opinion anyways.

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

In Silver, I found the best option is to grab a champion with waveclear and stall indefinitely. Team would pretty much constantly group around a random objective, so the ability to stall and poke down the opponent before a fight begins can be invaluable.

I mostly played Ziggs and Varus while I was in Silver last season due to this.

VoidStaresBack1 votes

I mean, you'd think this would just be common sense, but on these forums... Some people just don't get the memo.

There have been so many games that I have lost lane hard, only to look for TP plays and roams and even though my opponent had a 3 kill advantage on me (once at 9 mins), I still won those games because I had a much better map presence

I created a website surrounding this idea, it uses Riot API and some select stats to determine who would be a winner of a 1v1 between a friend and you!

You created that ? What development tools did you use ?

I used Java EE servlets running on an Apache Tomcat web container. I used a boot strap template + jsp for the front end!

Let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Ah. I take it you're not a Windows developer then. Linux maybe ?

Daem0n931 votes

Right on the money, I am a linux developer. However, Java is not OS specific and Tomcat has distros on both linux and windows. My code has no dependencies to linux!

You can get a free (restricted) amazon AWS instance from openshift by redhat which is what I used for free hosting. In total it only cost me one dollar USD, and that was for the domain name lol

Papa Slothy1 votes

laning success shows some skill but it's more about how you impact other lanes and the game as a whole using that lead

Zerenza1 votes

So true, i'm a really good laner so i often win my lane(i also play good lane bully champs to add to this) and so often i'm pretty fed but i can't end out a game or "Carry" simply because i'm bad at the team fighting stage and late game stage.

Lady Hammerlock1 votes

You can honestly very easily see this with bad/good Leblanc players

bad LB's can crush lane all they fucking want but if they can't play team fights right that 11/0 score is pointless

Good LB's can go even and play team fights and dominate by basically being near untouchable and annoying

rescued1 votes

This is true. I am not a mid or top main, but when I do play those roles I suck at laning phase, not going to lie. but the second laning phase ends and we start teamfighting is where I show my true colours.

[slayer-jinx-wink]

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

Likewise.

I generally just choose a champion with safe waveclear (i.e. Lux, Ziggs, Varus) and farm until teamfights start up.

If I happen to find a good opportunity to roam or manage to get a kill during laning phase, that's just a bonus.
