Why is the mastery system win dependant?

It feels really disappointing when you get S+, S, S, etc., and you only get 200 points at the end of the game because your team lost.

I just had a S- game with Thresh (5/6/21) where our jungler left in the early game and we lost.

Why is it that no matter how good you play you get no reward for it at the end if your team loses? I get that there would be a discrepancy between winning and losing, but 1500+ points for those who win vs 200- points for those who lose is not really a fair discrepancy.

Why is the system based on win/lose and game length instead of actual skill?

Because it's an arbitrary system that gives you grades that only you can see that have absolutely no benefit to you aside from a Mastery Emote.

If the rewards were something like a skin or icon or something, sure I could understand being a bit mad, but currently it's not really accomplishing much. Mastery level on a champion has nothing to do with how skilled you are with said champion. Eventually if you played the champion enough, but never won a game, you could reach Mastery Level 5 with them even if you are terrible with the champion.

Just because you have poor stats doesn't mean you didn't help the team. The splitpusher that constantly gets 1v4'd but ultimately manages to distract long enough for you to take baron DID help the team. The tank that has to die every single fight for his team to ace DID help the team. The mid laner who loses half his CS to the ADC and then has to focus more on peeling DID help the team.

When you lose, going 32/5 when you constantly chased kills instead of getting objectives didn't help the team, either.

All true, however that does not answer the question.

By skill one could take the score, of course, but also amount of cs, turrets taken, dragons and barons, wards, etc.

The truth is the system does not give a rat's ass to whatever you do in the game so long as you win.

You can end up 1/15/3, not do shit elsewhere, farm horribly and get carried hard by your team and still get about 1200 points while the opposing enemy who crushed you only gets ~250
