Tahm Kench is the very embodiment of a Win Lane Lose Game champion

PopcornBunni··21 votes·11,604 views

This is one case where I can say with 100% accuracy that Tahm wins lane against literally, and I mean literally, the entire cast of toplaners.

The only matchup where he actually has to try in lane is Pantheon, which still favors tahm in laning by a factor of ~4%. His average matchups are closer to a factor of ~20% in tahm's favor fwiw.

But then he does nothing after laning phase because the champion doesn't have a kit. His lane phase doesn't have any translation into objectives or game winning, he is literally just a gatekeeper for fun in the top lane.

He is absolutely UNKILLABLE late game. The big ass shield is so stupid.

Not really, just need an ADC that has a few braincells and knows that he needs LW

ADC's or brain cells, pick one.

MasterYi Kayle Fiora Vayne Varus KogMaw should have no issues killing a late game kench.

I enjoy having a kench on my team. Good kench grabs people and spits them out in front of us to finish off. Does kench win by himself? No. Can kench be a great asset? Yes.

That's because you brought an entire team of early game champs or didnt itemize to kill a tank at any point in the game. If you have a Jhin chances are you aren't going to kill him very quickly so the goal is to just avoid him and kill his team while just taking pot shots at him when you have nothing else to do. Tahm does one thing well in team fights. He is a big bulky tank that chases people. Besides that he has nothing to offer his team.

he transitions well if you know how to play him. and even if u don't, just stand on the frontline and auto people. but yeah his laning is broken atm

His win rate doesn't show this.

"if you know how to play him" the general community barely knows how to play the game outside of laning phase

You say that like Tahm Kench top lane isn't a problem in all elos.

TK is stupid easy to gank. If jg is not camping TK, they are doing something wrong, because TK most definitely cannot 1v2 like Darius or Mordekaiser, and he's far less useful than both of those in TF.

Also TK loses lane to Mordekaiser, who's currently way more broken considering the fact he can pretty much deny any jungler ganks with his ult since it usually means either a 1 for 1 killing the jg, or stealing the dead jg's stats and getting 2 kills as well.

I don't think tahm kench loses to mordekaiser, maybe through small trades in lane, but in an all in I was able to duel the enemy morde top who won his lane while I was playing tahm support, full health, he ulted me and everything, I didn't even use sums.

Also fought mordekaiser a few times in twisted treeline and didn't have any issues.

Maybe ive just been getting lucky and the mordekaisers ive been playing against didn't know what they were doing, but even then, its been alittle too consistent with results.

Or maybe most tahm players are stupid and eat the mordekaiser and hold him in their belly for full duration while his passive damages them.

Most Mordekaisers can't land a Q worth their life and when they do go for all in's they don't even bother to get away from minions so the Q does the isolated damage boost. TK is comparatively far simpler.

All Morde needs to do is play TP and not fall behind till lv6 and he should win the rest past ult as he gains a far larger power spike, plus he scales far better than TK.

I feel this on a spiritual level. I mean with other annoying top laners like Yasuo and Vayne if they get ahead they can actually DO THINGS. Even the king of annoying tops himself Teemo can at least provide good team-fight, kill securing and vision with his ULT. But Tahm? Nothing, during laning phase he is annoying AF and during the late game he just sits there as a big target and dies.

show me Aatrox that lost lane

PopcornBunni3 votes

Tahm beats Aatrox in lane by a factor of around +36%, and Aatrox is one of the champions that doesn't win after the laning phase either, being in the bottom 30th percentile of champions against Tahm overall.

Pater Gascoigne1 votes

Sounds about right from my experience. No matter how hard he wins lane, TK usually ends up not contributing outside of the laning phase

The Spicy Crit1 votes

Yeah, that's why i don't play him. I can win lane 99% of the time with Tahm, but he's too team reliant in the late game.

Uchiwa Senpai1 votes

Just play Heimerdinger and he'll leave lane with no cs and will be useless later on

PopcornBunni1 votes

Tahm is +5% against heimer in lane and only loses later in the game.

Even if Heimer didn't lose against Tahm in lane, the answer to no fun allowed being an equally unfun noninteractive champion would not be a sign of anything remotely acceptable. If you had read the post you'd realise this isn't "tahm is unstoppable and always wins," it's "Tahm makes this game unenjoyable by turning the game into a one-sided uninteractive tower sitting simulator for 20 minutes."
