Too little LP gains. Should I start over ?

So a few days ago I decided to do some ranked with some friends. Now we were all hanging out, drinking, talking, shit like that. Decided to play some ranked with them despite knowing they were no where near ready for it. I was at Silver 5 at the time. One was unranked, the other B5. Well, they're my friends. It wasn't really about winning. Just about having a good time with friends. As I expected, we lost every single game. Played like 15. Went from S5 to B2. Didn't really care since I know I can probably climb back up again.

Problem is, it's tedious since my MMR dropped so low that I'm gaining 15 LP per win and losing something like 21 per loss. It makes it especially tough when I lose 2 in a row and even harder if I get demoted since I don't gain LP during promotion games so it's like extra games I gotta win. My original plan was to get Gold but now I'd just settle for the Silver border. I'd think about Gold some time in the future. I was thinking about dropping myself back to B5 and climb from there. It would feel a lot smoother if my LP gains were normal. It just feels too frustrating to lose so much LP per loss. And I'm at B1 now, so games are harder to win so I can't count on win streaks. Which would be the only way to climb smoothly with such little gain.

I was wondering if anyone does this. Is this a good idea ?

The system has determined that you are below the level of play you were at and therefore punishing you. Change your style and play or it will continue to tank.

Know what...fuck it. I'm gonna play one more ranked game, if I lose this one, I'm gonna do it. I really hate trying to climb like this. I know I can get from B5 to S5 before the end of the year.

Oh. One more thing. Anyone thinking that I'm gonna lose games deliberately....no. All I have to do is play champs I'm not good at. 90% of the time, my allies would feed and lose. Carrying is the ONLY way to climb out of Bronze. All you have to do to lose the majority of your games is not carry.

After you win enough games and fix your MMR, you'll start getting more LP per win. Right now your MMR is lower than your current rank, to put it into simple terms - "you don't deserve your rank". I don't think starting over will make you deserve your rank more. Winning more games will.

When I reached Silver the 1st time, I was gaining 21 LP per win and losing 19 per loss. Playing with my friends fucked my MMR up pretty badly. What I didn't think about was that my MMR has to drop a full tier before getting a demotion from Silver. What this means was I would be in B1 with B5 MMR hence the low LP gains which in turn means a tedious climb.

The game punishes you more for extensive losing streaks. Your MMR is actually lower than what you're playing against, if you get hot and start winning 5 in a row you will start gaining more LP per win.

No. Don't do something stupid, the ammount of time that you will lose will be proportional or maybe even higher that the ammount of time that it will take you to fix your mmr, also, remember that the V division is always the worst one, you will literally be playing with and against the worst of the worst, the ammount of trolls, flammers, or simply awful players is a lot higher in B5 than in B2, also as some others stated, it's not about wr%, LP gain is all about your performance in your recent games, so if you win 20 games in a row your mmr will grow a lot, but a 20 win streak is not so possible unless you are really good.

So, in my opinion even if you can't climb as fast as you would wish to, do your best and try to win every game, eventually your mmr will normalize and after that it will be higher than average and the system will be with you and not against you. Remember that ranked is a ladder, in order to get to the top you have to go forward, never backwards.

Not worried about that. B5 is dog shit easy. Hell even at B1 I'm not having that many problems. But occasionally I get uncarriable games and this is why I raised the question in the first place. With low LP gains a single loss is a very heavy thing. The point is to make the climb feel smoother. It's really more a psychological thing. A single loss tilts me hard because it means I'd have to grind that much harder to climb. It's kinda hard not to get mad when the gains of 2 wins can be undone by a single loss. If my MMR were normalized, I actually wouldn't mind because I know my over all gains would be higher when I win more. For some reason, it feels as if I started over at a normalized MMR it would go a lot smoother. I just wanted to get some input on this before I actually did it.

You basically need to win those 10-15 games in a row to balance it back out.

I honestly wouldn't worry about it since your MMR gains and losses can change relatively quickly. It'll take far less time to grind out a lot of ranked games that it will to level up a new account and get enough IP to replace all your champs and rune pages. Also, you'll improve a lot more playing ranked than playing against bots and pre-level 30s.

I dropped down to Bronze 4 in season 5 and was able to climb back up to Silver 5 before the end of the season without too much difficulty. This season I placed in Bronze 3 and I'm already in Gold promos even though I don't play ranked that much.

Worry less about your rank and more about improving every game. If you improve every game you'll climb effortlessly in no time.

If you care about your rank...dont play with people you know will make you lose. Getting bad players is 1 thing, invite them on your team and you deserve to lose. So you deserved to get stuck in bronze. If you dont care about your rank then hell go to B5 dont need to ask everyone else what to do. If you care about your rank, dont start over for all you know youll end up right back where you are and waste a couple of weeks of time leveling a new account for nothing

You're missing the point. Firstly, I'm not talking about leveling a new account. I'm talking about dropping this one down to B5 and starting from there. Secondly, you completely missed why I did it. Don't you have homies bro ? We were hanging out and they got it in their head to try ranked. At the end of the day it's just a video game. Fuck it. We were there to have fun. So what if we lost, we had a good old time doing so. Thirdly, I'm not "stuck in Bronze". My MMR is a bit fucked so it's making the climb seem a lot harder than it is by the small LP gains which I why I asked this in the first place.

Nevermind. I managed to climb back to Silver going 13-6 over my last 20 ranked games(as of this post). Seems I had forgotten what got me to Silver in the first place. I was playing Bronze like I was in Silver which wasn't working. Just had to do what I did the 1st time I got to Silver. For anyone curious, you basically afk farm and ignore your team until you're strong enough to kill everyone. This doesn't work in Silver because of how quickly Silver players group and take towers. When I dropped back down to Bronze, I was still playing like I was in Silver which was why I wasn't carrying as often as I expected. I needed to shift gears in a manner of speaking. My MMR has normalized now so everything is fine.

Anyways, thx all for your responses.
