Seems for a couple days now Lee Sin is in every single game. My games, games I see on various streams, friends' games. He is every where all of a sudden. Why the sudden surge in popularity? Did something happen to cause this that I'm not aware of?
Riot buffed him for worlds and didn't renerf him
Lee gets a free pass on being over powered
Always has, always will (minus the one time he did bad in worlds so riot buffed the every loving poop outa him to fix that)
easy to play and forgiving.
Lee Sin is essentially a bruiser that gets to act like an assassin. The conqueror changes have completely broken him, he outsustains most junglers that are not warwick and early on before warwick has armor he can even duel out warwick.
This is while having extreme safety from ward/ally/minion hopping that allows him to get out of any unfavorable situation.
And then the point and click stun that deletes 20%+ of someone's HP with insane AD scaling and that sets them up for a free easy to land Q for follow-up.
He's the very concept of overloaded.
Ekko and other assassin junglers are squishy. Lee Sin is not but he gets to build bruiser items and do the damage of an assassin while having their mobility too.
It's no wonder such a champion with a toolkit like that to be as popular as they are.
He is strong and fun to play, and he has always been one of the highest popularity champs in the game
Everyone wants to be a Tian.
Because he is not in every game. warwick (increased 10 placements in terms of pickrate and still rising) and ekko is. Stop making stuff up. And even if he is "popular" less than one in five can play at a average level. He is barely consistent in performance at all.

I have been seeing him a lot, but also stomping him. I'm a jg main who doesn't play Lee Sin and used to be kind of scared when I saw him. I always would say "oh boy here comes another tryhard Lee Sin", but for some reason these past couple of weeks (probably due to rewards time being up or w/e) when I see a Lee Sin I say my little phrase and they are like "what?" and then I just destroy them. Seem to be a lot of first time Lee Sin's lately, or just people who haven't played him much. So yeah, likely they saw a Youtube video or guide saying he's OP right now and they can get free wins if they play him, which is very untrue because even though he's so strong he's kind of hard to play IMO.
Simple answer because hes very overpowered and very easy to play doesn't require much effort or skill plus he does kinda look cool
