I have two questions about jungle items and the upcoming Summoner Specialist keystone

Jungle items require smite, correct? And Summoner Specialist allows you to change your summoner spells, so:

  1. What happens if a you buy a jungle item and then get rid of smite?
  2. Can you switch to smite and get a jungle item later in the game?

If you have/are cho it would make sense. His ult is what 40 seconds and objectives are every 5+ in late game so he could take trade smite for ghost.

From what Riot stated with their introduction, swapping smite out for something else will let you keep the item and its properties, but you will not be able to smite, so the smite portion is wasted.

TBH, the only ones worth keeping, ignoring smite, are bloodrazor and cinderhulk for specific champions/builds.

item 1418--->Use varies in on-hit builds. Other AS options may be better, depending on the build/champ if not smiting.

item 1409--->Use varies in HP-based builds. item 3022 or item 3083 might be better for pure HP purposes (burn not valued) if not smiting.

item 1410--->item 3285 Absolutely no reason not to switch if you aren't smiting.

item 1408---->item 3812 Absolutely no reason not to switch if you aren't smiting.

The reason not to switch is the gold lost from selling the item. Another you're probably not considering though is that

  1. jungle items still let you clear camps faster
  2. jungle items give you bonus exp when clearing camps
  3. the talisman passive gives you a LOT of mana regen in the jungle.

None of those are factors after the point when you'd be looking to swap out smite.
