If Fizz is getting a buff, can it be literally anything else besides his E cooldown?

TotalJerk··145 votes·4,028 views

Playful/Trickster (E) cooldown lowered from 18/16/14/12/10 to 16/14.5/13/11.5/10

Seriously, the bastard is slippery enough with the current state of itemization. He doesn't have a hard time getting 40% CDR, item 3102, AND item 3157. This has little to do with his power level, I just know this will make him even more annoying to play against for a lot of people.

Shut up, they're trying to sell some Omega Squad skins.

Pls let it mean Twitch nerfs in August.

If they wanted to sell more skins wouldn't they buff him on the omega squad patch?

Initial sales aren't high enough. He needs buff.

Shut up, they're trying to sell some Omega Squad skins.

I DIED AT THIS OMG, TY SO MUCH

Considering it's going to be the same cooldown at rank 5 and he maxes it first, this changes very little

nice table1 votes

pretty sure W max fizz still has a higher win ratio and is fairly popular

SH Azykan8 votes

not since the last W nerf it isnt

Melledoneus31 votes

It's a minor CD reduction that scales down with rank. It's 2 seconds in lane, which is offset by its mana cost. Not to mention late game it's the same.

InstaPoppy21 votes

But he's already super annoying and snowbally early :(

Ultrios6 votes

Fizz shouldn't be snowballing early barring a few lanes. Those lanes aren't very meta.

He CAN'T snowball vs ekko, syndra, vlad, orianna, zed, talon, akali, malzahar, katarina, kassadin

He CAN snowball off Taliyah, xerath, brand, twisted fate, aurelion sol, vel'koz, Karthus, Kayle.

There are post 6 skill matchups that you lose early but can win post 6. Those include yasuo, annie, Zilean.

Tell me, which list do you think holds the more common picks?

He already got the assassin treatment everyone was upset about. His ult takes a long time to go off and its a skillshot (hello support peel, shields, zhonyas, exhaust)

His W has to stack up. If you miss ult, it takes a bit.

His E is is escape and biggest hitter.

His damage is very delayed. IDK I'm a fizz main sure I'm probably just really bad I guess. But most midlane matchups I'm under my turret trying to dodge abilities and farm while getting bullied all game unless I get a lead or a kill somewhere. Post 6 teamfights can be hell too. I survive off watching the map and trying to make plays, which Fizz is good at admittedly. It's also hard to shove your lane unless you get ahead. Often times I'm begging for a jungle gank and by the time they come, I can't engage because I'm poked down too low vs lots of meta matchups.

What this SHOULD do is allow fizz to trade a little more and survive a little better in the rough early laning. And it is indeed rough.

Fisher No Chains10 votes

Lol? He can't snowball off Syndra? I admit that lv 1-5 is rough for the fish, but post 6 Fizz destroys Syndra.

He's pretty much one of her worst counters, since he can press E and negate 400 damage from her ultimate.

Then syndra gets a banshees and she cant die to him anymore.

Then syndra outscales fizz as she can do what fizz does but from 750 range with 1 spell while still having ranged waveclear + aoe dps after she blows someone up.

Fisher No Chains4 votes

I think that if Fizz gets some defensive stuff too he wins anyway against Syndra. He just negates everything so easily that all of Syndra's basic abilities are kinda unreliable against him. And his E is basically a "lol, nope" on a ridiculous CD at rank 5 that eats her whole ult.

All she has to do is just Q him over and over and waIt to use stun + ult after he walks up and presses E and he dies.

His E is on a base 10s CD at rank 5, more than enough to punish him, its really easy to lane against fizz if you actually know how to play laning phase.

macromite4 votes

syndra has a method to fight fizz.

That is not the same as syndra beating fizz. because fizz has more reliabe methods of fighting syndra.

DarkSunSovereign3 votes

Lvl 1-5 is rough? Lol no. He can and will oneshot her through exhaust at level three. How? He uses Q on a minion and gets close to her (or directly onto her if she's careless), he auto attacks and chases her to her tower, since he runs as faster than her and ignores creepblock (rito remove this shitty mechanic for allied minions ffs). Syndra can't stun him since he will just E. If she has QWE at level three (and not lvl 2 Q+E) she might be able to slow him, otherwise she's done. He uses W and wins the trade. If Syndra tries to retaliate he uses E to dodge it and re-engage.

Sraeg20135 votes

I honestly don't know where people get the idea that Syndra is good against Fizz.

It only ever happens when a Fizz player doesn't have the mental capacity to tie their shoes without help.

PS. You forgot to mention that if Syndra is anyhow below ~80% HP at level 3 Fizz can like QWE+Ignite her under tower with next to no chance of retaliation on her part.

Seen that happen in my games and Diamond/Master streams alike.

Ariel the Cruel2 votes

and ignores creepblock

An assassin with multiple [creep-ignoring] gap closers and a tiny hit-box is allowed to have this. But a MS based Centaur with a large hit-box that goes gank-heavy jungle can't. Oh Rito. You never fail to amuse. XD

Sorry, bit of a tangent there. Carry on.

ForeverLaxx1 votes

They took away Hecarim's ability to walk through creeps because people were using that huge hitbox to stand on minions and prevent the enemy from getting CS. It was the entire point of "support Hecarim" and was a major tool in his toplane days.

Do I think it's stupid they took it away? Sure. Doesn't change the reason why, though.

macromite15 votes

as a jungler al I can say is that its annoying asfuck to catch someone with their pants down because they fucked up and overextended without warding only for them to be able to just walk away without spending flash. and fizz does that now. if you gank a fizz while he has his pole up you are essentially just wasting time, you need to have his pole baited before you can even think about ganking him, which means the fizz player needs to make three distinct mistakes, hard shoving without knowing where enemy jungler is, failure to keep gank routes warded, and using escape resource as an offense tool.

giving specifically fizz better options of dealing with this is absurd.

Psybicilin4 votes

So do that. Lol

Bârd1 votes

Thing is, this makes it much safer to max W first for its damage.

He's not sacrificing as much in terms of E CD for the raw damage that comes with a W max.

fizz on average has 6 deaths every game. not so slippery orianna malzahar and lux barely have 5 hehe :)

Umm OK. SO MANY THINGS are wrong with that sentence. What do these 3 have that Fizz doesn't? I will give you 5 guesses..... RANGE. Remember Fizz has to dive into the enemy while those 3 only have to throw their skills in that direction, except for Malz he can just put his dot on a minion and kill them that way.

Penns7 votes

Thing is that people say stuff like "fizz never dies because of his E / is hard to kill,..." when these ranged mages are way harder to kill.

FantasySniper5 votes

He also gets a shit ton more kills.

aceknighthigh1 votes

And if we Filter it by kills, Fizz comes in at number 3 with 8.67 kills, where as Lux comes in at 25 with 6.39 kills and Orianna and Malz are down there at 5.78 and 5.65 kills respectively(good for 33 and 34).

So if we phrase this a little less disingenuously, Fizz gives up 1 extra death to get 2-3 more kills per games, while also taking far more risk as a melee champ, where as champs like Lux come close to dying just as much while taking far less risks.

Next Fizz mains will be on here trying to explain how Fizz isn't elusive because Xerath a self slowing, self-rooting while giving global vision, immobile mage only dies 4.81 times a game. Maybe, just maybe, deaths aren't solely a function of a champs ability to avoid damage? Maybe champions that have less risky, rangier playstyles die lees, while also having less opportunities to instaglib their opponents. Hate to break it to you, but deaths are the cost of being melee, and having a kit that is designed around being able to go in and out of a fight at will. The benefit is that Fizz will always remain top tier in kills barring some extreme nerfs

Penns2 votes

Yeah those stats are expected since he is an assassin (minus kassadin who gets a lot of kills and dies less than xerath xd). My point is that people say he is slippery and doesnt die often when he has one of the most average deaths as squishy melee champ.

Sohleks8 votes

It's a very minor amount of cd reduce at a time he doesn't have the mana to spam it.

13900 Essence8 votes

Its probably a good thing with how safe picking mages is right now, assassins can't pressure them early very well.

"Fizz fares pretty well against mages when his cooldowns are up, so we’re giving him the tools to engage more often."

WoonStruck6 votes

Its 2 seconds at rank 1...when he won't have any items.

Joek91005 votes

why would he get a buff? please nerf him into oblivion

Chess13 votes

it used to go down to 8 there partially reverting. it its nice because once the enemy mid gets banshees fizz cant really trade anymore once the mid gets banshees. so it hurt more than it helped when it was released

Ahri a Stark3 votes

you max E on Fizz anyway so its not a problem at all

FantasySniper2 votes

Reducing the CD on his primary damage and most overloaded ability will most definitely do something for his power level.

r4ndomkill3 votes

the buffs cd reduction is less with ranks, and thats on the spell he maxes first.

Void Kaiju2 votes

Issue is that his pole is the only thing you can dodge out of his main 3 spells. Would you rather him have SLIGHTLY more situational power or more ways to just click on you and murder your face to death.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Why not increase pole damage then? It's not targeted, and it's not the cooldown.

<shrugs>

Skins Project1 votes

hi

Void Kaiju2 votes

I can't speak for Riot but it's probably because he really doesn't need the extra potency in his combos. The little bit of extra early power in Playful Tricksters cooldown means he's not as helpless because it's REALLY easy to just push him out of lane pre-6, and he has to use it to farm and then you just destroy him during its cooldown. I do despise playing against good Fizz players but honestly this buff doesn't seem to unreasonable.

Skins Project1 votes

U can dodge q I think....

Kinda like a rek'sai ult

Void Kaiju1 votes

It's pretty difficult without flash when he puts himself right next to you though, but yeah you are right.

I think mobility spells work...
