Ranked could be a LOT less frustrating
It's been over half a year now, and I'd overall say that the champion mastery system has been a success. My mastery scores usually reflect how well I did in a game quite accurately, if I think I did really well I usually get A+ at least, and if I think I did poorly B- or C+ is usually my score.
That being said, why not bring these into ranked?
-
Gain up to 30% more LP on a win based on mastery score, although we may gain 5?% less if we get a D.
-
Lose up to 30% less LP on a win based on mastery score, but we lose up to 5?% less on a D.
With A's giving marginal bonuses and B's and C's giving effectively no bonuses at all.
This would mean that if you're doing well but you get trolled, or you do your best but the rest of the team isn't doing so hot then you won't fall as much as the rest of your team. It would mean players get to where they're supposed to be in ranked quicker and easier, and claims like "elo hell" are less effective since by how much your rank changes depends on how well you do.
AFK's would get additional punishments due to automatic D rank as well, and those who are left with the AFK have a possibility of having reduced punishments.
Smurfs and boosted players would also reset to their actual rank somewhat quicker, moving those out of our games.
Having the degree of how much you climb or fall depend on your individual play would make ranked feel much less frustrating, but having whether or not you climb or fall depend on whether or not you win still leave ranked very win and team focused.
I am suggesting this because I don't think the mastery system can be manipulated easily. Anything that would increase mastery score such as getting good CS is something that helps you win, and from my experience sticking around to farm people in base has never given any sort of score increase.
