For those that hate Ezreal+RG

Those are the numbers for RG Ezreal. He has a unique position in league of doing the 3rd most damage of ANY mid laner with only karthus and AP Kogmaw doing more damage. However his win rate is 44th out of 49. That's REALLY bad. His skill scaling (Having more ranked games played) Doesn't even increase his win rate above 50%.

Sure all his stats look really good but he still loses more games than he wins.

AP Ezreal mid is an iconic example of a champion that feels bad to play against but isn't really OP. It SUCKS to lose 80% HP to a single ult from across the map or 50% to a single Q but the core mechanics of AP ezreal make him fundumentally weaker than other mid laners. These things are invisible power which he has none of. Literally all he can do is chunk you every 4 seconds if you can't dodge him or don't buy MR. <BUT MR DOES NOTHING> A single Locket and a few BV's go a long way toward being able to body block his abilities. Sustain hard counters him. Remember when peppi played EZ vs kalista? Once she finished BT+BotRK she never died because between the CD on his Q she'd go to full.

The champion is not OP. The item is not OP. The champion plus the item is not OP. The Champion plus the item is frustrating, but that is how poke has always been. See nid spears, kogmaw ults, literally every poke in history has been frustrating.

There is a negative correlation with pick rate and win rate

Ez has a high pick rate so his winrate will go down as the pick rate increases. There is a similar relation ship with ban rate and win rate, as ban rate increases, so does the winrate

With that said, just looking at winrate is really dumb

This site takes that into account and gives win rate at various levels of skill based on number of ranked games played. At 50+ ap ezreal mid games his win rate is trash. Try actually reading the numbers. Azir is an example of what you are trying to state because as with zed he scales directly with skill a whopping 15% up. Ezreal scales up 3%. He's actually secretly terrible, people just FEEL like he's op.

mid ez has a 3% pickrate, not exactly high. also, the corelation is more on the experience of the ez-players, though high pickrate usually correlates to higher number of low experience players.

However, even with 125+ games, EZ still has a low winrate(48.5%) Azir for Example has a 46% winrate in average, but the 50-125game azirs have already a 52.2% winrate, and 125+ games Azirs have a 55.4% winrate.

Looking at the overall winrate doesn't proof much, but looking at the different winrates of each 'ecperience range' can tell quite alot.

Oh great, one of those "This champ isnt Op! You must learn to counter teehee teehee!!!" nerds again....

but countering works...

if it works. and you refuse to do that. should the enemy really be called op? failing to take action on a clear counter-strategy..which would have lead to victory.

It really depends. Some champs being good against other champs is fine. But NEEDING to pick those champs just to beat some other champs is very stupid.

that has not much to do with coutner pickd, but rather countermplay(get a tank with mr in the front to bodyblock his Q+E, or simply abuse his still weak early to gain drake controll and some goldlead), and buying the right items(banshes helps aot more than quicksilver vs him on yor carry, more sustain focus, locket goes a long way...) It's nothing with the picks but how you use them against him and what items you get.

Once again, it really depends. There are hard counters in this game, where if you pick these champs at all it makes other champs extremely difficult to play. Picking Morgana against physical CC, for example, completely ruins their day. picking Kayle against any assassins. Picking Rammus, Taric and / or Malphite against a full AD team. Picking Kassadin against a 4/5 ap team. Now, if full ad teams were so strong that you NEEDED to pick Rammus / Taric / Malphite to win, it wouldn't be balanced. But they're not that strong, so picking these guys just helps a lot but isn't necessary.

  1. non of those cases has something to do with RG Ez, so i wonder waht it has to do with this thread
  2. nearly all of thos are softcounters.
  • You don't auto win by picking malph into a tripple ad-comp, you sure have a high winrate, but not a nearly save win just from champselect
  • Neither Malph nor Rammus or who ever have to be picked into ad comps in order to funktion, they can perform well vs other compositions aswell.
  • You don't need a malph or rammus to deal with ad-comps.

Lucifer's post had nothing to do with glaive either. It had to do with counter builds, which is I posted an argument under his comment.

Did I say triple AD? I said FULL AD. Implying a 4.5 / 5 AD team (4.5 meaning one champ has some magic damage, like Shyvana). If you have malph and rammus against that much AD and you lose, you did something very, very wrong.

"-You don't need a malph or rammus to deal with ad-comps." Uh... yeah... notice how I wrote, "But they're not that strong, so picking these guys just helps a lot but isn't necessary." ...? Are you trying to argue with me while agreeing with me?

They don't HAVE to be picked into full ad comps. Who said that? They're just EXTREMELY good against AD comps because they not only have disgusting amounts of armor, but their abilities scale with armor as well, so they can get damage while building thornmail, randuins, etc.

Sire Hippington1 votes

Lucifer didn't speak about counter picks, but strategie and items, thats a big difference.

And i stated reasons why malph, rammus and co are counters, but not hard counters, and one of my points happend to be used by yourself aswell.

And i actually won with a full ad(well, 4.5 ad) comp vs Rammus+Malph. Arpen goes a long way, wukong with BC already shreds 50% armor of an enemie on his own, and we had J4+Urgot on top, so a total 71% armor shred befor LW comes into play. Keep in mind that shred not only increases the damage your team deals to them, but also hurts the damage that malph and rammus gain from armor.

Lucifer's just trying to get you to play Zed, Katarina, and Leblanc like the Lord of Hell is supposed to.

Learn to math. Azir actually IS OP when mastered. So in a word, Yes, win rate means everything. How you personally perform meant nothing. 0-40 or 40-0 all that matters is the victory screen or the defeat screen.

LaceUp234 votes

Win rates mean something if you are smart enough to look past the single "win %" stat. For example, yes Azir has a shitty win rate. But, that is more than 95% likely due to the fact that he ranks 46/49 mid champs in playerbase average games played. So yes, you can expect a low win rate for a champ that is played by people that haven't mastered them whatsoever. His win rate jumps 15% for people that have >125 games played with him. The more ya know....

I guess its time to buff ezreal?

i've been playing fizz and kassadin into ez mid. seem to destroy him handily

The only thing I hate about ap ezreal is having one on my team.

Like it matters, the runeglaive-ludens procs will not exist is a few days. Until then feel free to use AP runeglaive Ezreal mid all you, just don't be surprised if it's banned every game.

Saianna1 votes

Ez or/and runeglaive WILL be nerfed either we want it or not.

If you check history of champions who became too overbearing with new, introduced item you'll see 2 things in common:

  1. Nerfed champion who uses said item
  2. Nerfed item.

To be honest AP Ez is bit on OP side. Because it gives little time to dodge/counter from his full 3 skill combo.

They aren't op. They are actually weak. I have actual PROOF. Have you read the thread?

They are buffing them next patch.

Saianna1 votes

Well it's a biased opinion of a casual player [me]

It's not that his damage can close to 100-0 you, it's about how fast he can make it.

Oh and by the way overbearing =/= OP. It's term about slighttly beyond annoying to deal with..
