I think we should just gut ALL marksmen because "they had their time in the spotlight"

If in the past we could nerf champions with this excuse, even if said champions were only popular for a patch or two, then maybe we can do the same with marksmen who have been forcing themselves into the center of the game for YEARS now, just that the absurdity of it even reached new heights this season.

This game is no longer "League of Legends". It's "league of marksmen and their little bitches". Junglers exist soley to camp bot. Midlaners now also are support champs that get ardent as a second item. And the purpose of toplane? Keep teleport ready for bot ganks because everything else is completly irrelevant.

Isn't it fun to go into a game knowing you are not one of five team-members, but an irrelevant extra to make sure the only actually "important" position wins the game?

I've said this for years, but designing a game around forcing a one-dimensional glass cannon class as absolutely necessary is unsustainable

If the class with the lowest inherent counterplay is the strongest class, then it's not exactly a surprise that it's going to cause problems...

Not the strongest, but the game is designed so that you have to have one.

As far as I could tell, ADC's weren't Necessary because having a One Dimensional DPS was Necessary. Rather, they were organically the best option for the Duo lane because they were not reliant on levels. The only exceptions to that was Mord, who was practically forced into the bottom lane as an experiment. (And the result of said experiment was that Riot lacked the tools to support melee bot laners at the time) And Ziggs, who popped up, when ADC were in a bit of a rut.

That said, when those exceptions popped up. The pro scene proved that you didn't need to take an ADC anywhere else as a substitute.

You're right in the sense that it started that way long ago in season 2. The problem was riot continued to balance around pidgeonholeing adc + support bot lane and never tried to make any alternatives viable. In fact, they even go to the point of nerfing any other bot lane that isn't adc + support.

However, having an ADC on your team is still nessecary (unless you have Yasuo, the only melee carry who's actually allowed to be one) because without that, you just don't have enough dps to break through tanks.

It's because most of riot's balance is just matching damage vs durability instead of balancing around unique tools and mechanics that counter each other and the opportunity costs of spellcasts. They want everything to be vulnerable to focus fire, but they didn't consider that if you can always resort to brute force, why bother trying to use specific mechanics and interactions to counter other people?

they had their time in the spotlight for 7 seasons.

gutting them completely? no, they should still be viable. but they defnitely need a kick in the shins.

Or, we could balance for the sake of making the game balanced, and not Olaf everything we don't like.
