Is It Me, or is Olaf Still Poorly Designed? [DISCUSSION]

Keep in mind, I'm holding an open mind here. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see some very serious problems. I'll lay out why I think what I do, and I'd love to discuss it. Again, I COULD VERY WELL BE WRONG. I just had a bad match playing as him Lastly, I'm NOT discussing if he's OP/UP/Balanced, but rather his DESIGN. It's redundant and seems a little pointless, like a disjointed version of Dr.Mundo.

It seems to me that he's a meh tank, a meh damage dealer, a meh fighter and relies on numbers to be effective, not kit strength, a stance that Riot has already said they dislike. Unfortunately he's a poor stat stick because he can rarely actually make use of those numbers. Nothing, NOTHING in his kit synergizes at all, and if this were DOTA 2 that'd be fine, but thankfully it's not, and in League we usually have in-kit synergy. They seem to of just taken various aspects of a berserker and threw them together without regard if they work well together in the same kit or not. I was ahead early game, and frankly, he STILL wasn't very fun to play at all. Like a, again, disjointed version of Dr.Mundo. I'm sorry, but I expected a berserker; that would be VERY fun to play. Instead, he fails to fulfill that entirely, another stance Riot has taken against.

To top it all, his iconic axe throwing skill was changed to feel even more,...Just plain weird and awkward to use in the rework. This is one of the worst parts. This is like kicking Olaf fans in the shins. Taking his most identifiable skill and just making It feel gross to use. Yuck.

What was the original design OR the rework aiming for? He does the same exact thing as he has always done, and he's either overbearing (Like way in the past) or flat out pointless. I actually miss the point of Olaf entirely, because for throwing projectiles to slow enemies, we have Dr.Mundo, whom is far better executed.

They need to just stop beating around the bush, give him a hammer with lightning, and base him off of Thor like he** clearly is.** I mean** it's not like Wukong is hiding much at all.**

Not just you.

Olaf still has pretty limited counterplay and is a big ol ball of stats. Comes from a pretty weak era in League design, especially as regards bruisers. Garen just before him, Xin Zhao just after him, bleh bleh bleh.

The problem with Olaf is that he either becomes an unstoppable monster (immune to CC, gaining massive AS and lifesteal, a slow, and true damage) if he gets ahead, or if he's behind, it's all he can do to chase people with his Q, never getting in melee distance or interacting with anything aside from his axe and his target.

This is exactly the problem they claimed to be "fixing" when they destroyed Skarner back in 4.10. "Feast or famine."

olaf sucks plain and simple

even in his glory days he was a stat stick but a stat stick that actually worked. he also did exactly what you would expect of a berserker killing you slowly and there is nothing you can do about it.

in the nature of being a berserker i would vote to get rid of his cc imunity but just give him a dash on his ult much like rengar for 6 seconds that way he would actually be viable.

kinda like a akali sort of.

he would actually be able to use his W effectively.

and be in range for his E....

but i wont ever see this happen.

Olaf can dragon at lvl 1, so as a jungle he is pretty well off.

Olaf has "mobility"

I don't know who you've been playing, but Olaf does not have mobility

My issue is, look at their kits. They both have:

An axe/cleaver that is thrown in a straight line and slows whoever it hits

Resistance to CC

Boosts to their melee ability

Ability to restore their health

Fast clearing speeds

But their focus is in entirely different areas. Olaf focuses on the CC resistance and melee ability where Mundo focuses on the health and sticking power. That gives Dr.Mundo a defined role whereas Olaf, I feel, focuses on two specialties that clash with one another. What he's good at doesn't synergize, and what he's bad at hurt. Mundo has weaknesses, but his strengths synergize.
