Friendly reminder that Veigar was not "nerfed" because he was "overpowered"

Old Veigar was widely considered balanced and far from overpowered. Funny that at the time, most topics that complained about him were immediately downvoted and commented by things such as 'l2p', 'veigar so weak', or 'buy mercs/QSS/banshees and fuck him', 'just play (insert AD assassin or fizz here)' Also supp Veigar was far from being a competitive pick as contested as fotm supports. He was all right and kinda added diversity to the support pool.

Just saying. The 'veigar got changed because he was OP' argument is NOT a thing. Thank you.

His stun was too reliable. That's why they nerved him. Aoe stuns should never be on low cool down and instantaneous

He was at 45% winrate and was pretty much considered borderline unviable/trollpick. His cage has a huge CD for a basic spell. His stun had a 0.25s cast time, which is very short but needs a little bit of prediction/ballistic to land.

And this wasn't even supposed to be nerfs, it was supposed to be 'compensation for the DFG removal' which was core for Veigar.

Did you even play at that time? Don't rewrite the past, Riot didn't go like : we need to nerf Veigar, his stun is too strong. That's simply false.

I'm fine with the nerfs to his E. It's just ridiculous that they tried to pass it off as a compensation buff, when the only things they buffed were his passive and Q. His E and ult were nerfed.

Hi. Annie

Her insta stun isn't up every 18 seconds.

Vistha Kai3 votes

You are right. It's every 10 seconds. 4 if she can last hit stuff.

Did I mention it's without any CDR?

SpecterVonBaren3 votes

No, it's up more often.

Never said that we were ok with her having it.

His E was nerfed because it was too powerful for him to have and balance. It's exactly why LCS players picked him into the support role. Veigar needed gold and farm to do damage and assassinate, but because his stun was that strong they could pick him and win with it.

Now that it has a delay they were able to buff him in other areas, and he's a lot healthier design-wise and stronger because of it. You even said so yourself: he was at a 45% winrate, right? Well right now he's around 49-50% winrate.

I'd call that a successful balance change.

Vieger support was so OP in Korea that he was literally pick or ban for EVERY game. Riot had no choice but to nerf him.

Veigar picked as a support solely for his stun and gets gutted immediately. It's not like there's another "support" who has been doing just that for the last few months. You know who i'm talking about. I don't need to say her name.

The only supports I can think of have very clear indicators that they are going to try and stun you.

Veigar's stuncage was instant and lasted fairly long. It wasn't the only reason he got reworked though.

they compesated buffed his q and passive left his w alone, fixed his e because no one thought it was fun to play against and then slightly nerfed his ult because they knew without doing that a good veigar would be nuking the enemy adc with just an ult instead of neededing to actually try to kill them.
