Just imagine if there were buffs to MR, like the item 3174 and item 3105. I'd really like more emphasis on these guys. Is 30 MR on item 3174 too harsh? Or is item 3105 getting 40 MR and giving 10% of their own MR to allies too terrible? I'd for one, love to build item 3105 if I could give more than +10 MR to allies. The buff would allow me as a Tank to give at least more than 10 in late game. And if I play as a Galio, you can expect this to be about 20 or more for allies.

It's because lategame they can have their own MR sources. Aegis is supposed to be the really great early teamwide defense option for a tank willing to take a less selfish (more teamfight oriented) route.

This is especially true when upgraded to locket.

yoniame1 votes

then iat least the ally health regen should be brought back to it

OyddAWqJ5r3 votes

That'd be a lategame buff. There already is some lategame power on it via the shield scaling and the overall higher benefit due to more 5v5's happening.

Actually, people with intrinsic Tenacity profit relatively less from this than everyone else.

butelka herbaty11 votes

Even though they profit less, they still get to have a shitload of tenacity

OneDeadPixel1 votes

Since tenacity is percent based CC reduction, they benefit more since 65%+ CC reduction is exponentially better than 30%

Darkwind4 votes

That's... not at all the point.

Irelia naturally gets up to 40% tenacity.

Jarvan IV gets no tenacity.

Both champions decide to buy Merc Treads in a game vs a Morgana.

In patch 6.3, Irelia is snared for 3 x .6 x .8=1.44 seconds. In patch 6.3, J4 is snared for 3 x .8=2.4 seconds.

In patch 6.4, Irelia is snared for 3 x .65 x .7=1.26 seconds. In patch 6.4, J4 is snared for 3 x .7=2.1 seconds.

Irelia gets CCed for .18 seconds less in patch 6.4 than in patch 6.3. J4 gets CCed for .3 seconds less in patch 6.4 than in patch 6.3. Therefore, the buff to merc treads is more important for J4 than it is for Irelia.

ChaoticPinecone6 votes

Your math is wrong, but in your favor. Irelia gets 40% naturally.

Patch 6.3 = .4 + (.6)(.2) = .52 reduction. 3 second bind goes down to 1.44 seconds. Patch 6.3 = .4 + (.6)(.3) = .58 reduction. 3 second bind would be 1.26

Irelia actually gets CCed for only .18 seconds less compared to Jarvans .3 seconds less with the extra tenacity.

M, you're right. I listed the number off the top of my head and was apparently off. I'll edit the original.

That's because mercs are trash right now.

yeah, not like he has intargetability to dodge with every 3 second

Fizz does too.

If the enemy team has 5+ stuns/knock-ups and more soft CC to follow up, they both become high risk champs.

and then everyone remembers it used to give 30% tenacity before the pre-season changes... if cc was not a joke before it won't be now. There is no reason to pick merc threads as opposed to swifties. You get stunned or anything else you are either a tank or you won't survive long enough for merc threads to make a difference anyways

it was with the marksman changes, the only pair of boots that got nerfed =/

CubedJustice2 votes

Weren't Mobi Boots also nerfed with the price change?

kaltenashes2 votes

as far as i remember every boot received price reduction only merc treads got nerfed on tenacity

ionian boots lost 15% cd but now gives 10% summoners spells cdr, it aint a huge nerf, unless you're a riven main, loving all that nerfs to riven keep' em coming

They gained 100g on the cost.

EndlessSorcerer25 votes

Actually, they were 35% in season 5 and the tenacity mastery was far more accessible to non-tanks and non-fighters.

dangopee8 votes

It was 35% and you could get 10% from only 9 points in defense, making everyone and their mother have access to at least 42% tenacity.

PiVoRx2 votes

Add Zephyr, another 10% if i remember right?

Photos of Ghosts4 votes

Not stackable, unique passive. But you could get it from your kit. However, it was multiplicative, not additive - if you have 30% and you add 10%, it gives 37% (30 + 10% of 70) not 40%.

It gives MR, Swiftness doesn't.

It scales with the mastery that gives 15% Tenacity AND 15% Slow resistance.

The point of this is just to get people to stop buying Swiftness because its overuse is messing with other factors Riot didn't account for (synergy with Homeguard, increased map mobility, synergy with Dead Man's Plate, better resistance against increased death timers).

wtf they buffing tenacity?

well, it's not like they are buffing a mastery for those campions:

  • Warlord's Bloodlust (Ferocity, tier 6)
  • [REWORK] Effect changed to: "Gain increasingly more Life Steal based on your missing health against champions (up to 20%). Against minions gain 50% benefit"

  • [NOTE: This has non-linear scaling. Reinboom noted:

  • At 10% missing health, it gives you about 1% LS.

  • At 50% missing health, it gives you about 8% LS.

  • At 80% missing health (or... just past) it gives you 20% LS.]

ohhh, well.
