As a support main or general tank main and when I play mid as somebody who never bought DFG Thank god its gone the only people crying about it are the mid laners who only play like 5 mids and never play anything else

Ill give you that, but silver V is still pretty bad in terms of player knowledge/skill.

I couldn't agree more, but certainly some champs lost an incredibly valuable item (not talking about ahri or kat) like morde or veigar, but riot has promised a buff to compensate so I'm happily awaiting the 5.3 patch

DFG wasnt even honestly a good item... sure it gave ap and a decent active to kill one person, but on an AOE mage or in teamfights its really useless, because how is the squishy mid going to go through the enemys front line DFG the adc and then burst them down without getting killed...?

And this is what made DFG a wonderful addition to the mage line of items.

I play a lot of long range champions. Getting DFG on them was not as effective, because they wanted to stay further back than it's cast range. Champions with a short cast range could pick it up and add it to their combo with no trouble.

DFG did more for the burst mage than the sustained damage mage. Veigar effectively used it as a 20% AP discount when killing someone early game. To be honest, none of the other 120 AP items were as good as DFG was to him, at least as a first item.

LeBlanc could distort to the back lines to kill a target, other champions would flank or wait until both sides front lines had died.

I'm torn on DFG's removal. I see how valuable it was on Veigar (might have to stop playing him until 5.3), but I'm also horrible with active items. I also realize that it was an option that was better for some mages than others, which is something I feel the AP line could use more of.
