why does sylas scale into a late game monster?

despite having a great (maybe not super great) early with annie-like ranged (spell range) Qs. im curious why he has such range I thought he was a melee champ not a ranged champion. that's not also to mention how the damage is too fast on its skillshot.

Nah never heard of it before , i'm certain Sylas is the only champion in the game that does that.

His passive works like Sheen. It's like Galio's passive, but after every single spell rather than on a fixed cooldown. It deals a slightly increased base damage as well as scaling AP. That's why he deals a lot of damage early game.

He's actually restricted by very long cooldowns early game. Comparable to a Talon, i'd say - with less damage.
