Did riot sabotage matchmaking or something.
When I queue for a normal game I get instant queues, so I am guessing that riot made the matchmaking system pure random. No other way I am getting matched against plats/diamonds so often.

It's probably more to do with preseason so people who primarily play ranked almost exclusively are now spending their time in normals, so the pool of normals players is somewhat higher now.
Related, many players (in particularly relatively high ranked players) mostly played just ranked, so their normals MMR is quite a bit lower than their ranked MMR, so it's not all that uncommon for people to be plat/diamond in ranked solo/duo (with corresponding MMRs) but have an MMR more akin to silver/gold in normals.

judging by your match history dude, you main support. the reason you get 10 second queues is because 1) nobody else is playing support, so therefore you can be thrown into literally any game and 2) you always have autofill protection.
but have to ask..... hows ahri support going?

I am playing blind pick, queue times are the same for all roles.
then that's It right there, in blind pick all the system literally has to do is find 10 people. skill varies the most here because in most cases its either troll builds or first timers.
Hard to find a single balanced game, since last year in my experience, and they don't care at all.
Just being matched as support with my adc S2 and theirs G2. Their support was apparently same as me. Much fun, great job coders :P
The number of people who play League of Legends is insane.
In January 2014, the game had 27 million active daily players, 7.5 million concurrent players at peak times, and 67 million active monthly players.
League of Legends had 100 million monthly active players in 2016. Assuming League of Legends has at least 80 million monthly players this year, and the ratio of monthly:daily:concurrent is the same as it was in 2014:
At least 32 million players play this game daily, with 3.2 million of those players being Plat+
At least 9 million players are playing concurrently at peak times during the day, with 900,000 of those players being Plat+
