Let's talk about all the point and click cc that's been removed with reworks over the years

So we've gotten a lot of reworks over the last few years (Soraka, Taric, Warwick, Sion, etc), but at the same time they also lost reliable cc abilities. I know Riot wants to add more counterplay to these champions, but at the end of the day it means we have one less tool for dealing with assassins when they dive the backline (or dive me under my tower!). So how do we deal with this problem? All these champions have more counterplay now, and that's all well and good, but the assassin will just dodge those abilities every time with the insane amount of mobility they get in their kits (or with edge or night).
