@Meddler Have you ever considered having champions with 2 personas via balance changes

What i mean is that champions currently oppressing higher elos or LCS would have they're own tune of nerfs and buffs, but the same champions would actually have ANOTHER persona or w.e in lower elos so you would have :

Jinx LCS tuned Jinx Jinx Regular tuned Jinx

Hope you understand what im getting at now. This might sound like more work for the balance team but might actually lead to a overall balance satisfaction among everyone. You could tweak champions oppressing lower elo and balance around that elo while at the same time the same champion would be tuned different in much higher elo or LCS.

From Ghostcrawler's ASK.fm:

Q: I'm currently in a debate with my friend on why games shouldn't have separate balancing between casual and pro play. Can you help me cheat by seeing both sides A: Reasons to separate pro and casual:

  • Reflects the reality that pros and casuals value different things and have different strengths and weaknesses.
  • Removes problem constraints (e.g. if we buff that champ for pro, he'll stomp Silver)
  • Other sports do it (e.g. golf tee boxes or basketball 3-point lines) Reasons to keep pro and casual the same:
  • The game rules don't change as you climb the ladder
  • It's aspirational to try and duplicate the play or strategy you saw a pro make
  • Once you have separate tuning knobs, it can be twice as much work to use them. Now you have to change say AP/AD for pro and normal independently, test all those changes, etc.
