@Riot, if someone doesn't declare can the client please show their most played champs for that role?

Currently if someone doesn't declare, 1 of 3 things will happen:

  1. Their pick gets unintentionally banned.
  2. The team comp ends up unbalanced. E.g. The team has a nice amount of CC & Utility and instead of going for a damage mid lane, they pick Lulu because they're a one-trick Lulu main.
  3. We get lucky and neither of the previous cases occur.

Although this doesn't directly address the issue, the player would end up with something they're comfortable on and the team can pick around the champions they expect him/her to play. At the end of the day, some information is better than a blank space where information is meant to be.

E.g. Say I really wanted to play Yasuo Top - I've been playing it in Normals and I'm pretty confident with him. I forget to declare. Yasuo gets banned, but my team sees that my top 3 champions are all Magic Damage Tanks. They ask me to play Maokai, I'm happy and confident on him, and we end up with a nice balanced team comp.

Have OP.GG open and just search their summoner during champ select.

That's a band aid solution. It's impractical and a hassle that players shouldn't have to deal with.

Usually when I don't declare it's because I'm waiting to see what my team and the enemy team pick so that I can choose something that works in that scenario.

I don't declare because I hate when a game gets dodged in champ select and someone that was on my team ends up on enemy team and target bans me.
