I've played multiple games virtually every day for years, and I have 2 gemstones. Haven't gotten one in WELL over a year. Bought 10 of the chests that gave an increased chance at a gemstone and didn't get a single one

Ouch i feel bad reading this.. i take often breaks from playing league and i got 2 gemstones. But at the same time you made me feel like i was incredibly luck and maybe one day my great grand child with get to choose from one of the loot skins when my family reaches 10 gemstones with my account.

So far most people have gotten none of them. The average time it takes to acquire 10 gemstones is 5 years.

I only have 5 right now but once I get 10 I still won't spend them until I get to 20 cause if Kat ever gets a loot exclusive skin there is no way in hell that I'm waiting to get to 10 gemstones.

I spent some money to get some of them. Not like a hundred dollars or anything. Just some here and there on skins. Spent some the one time they had chests with increased chances or something, but don't recall how much.

i mean if you don't spend money yeah. but clearly the entire point is to make money. hence why they are exclusive. riot is a business if you haven't noticed.

And I am a customer looking at the price for 1/10th of a skin I want and saying "this price is ridiculous and the way it's presented to me is deceptive about how bad it is, why won't you lower it to a point where I'd be willing to buy it from you, and why aren't you honest about your prices?"

Because loot in general is a random "lottery" type thing. IT is the same in aspect in life. There has to be some stuff that is rare and valuable or you would never buy loot. Think about it. If loot just gave regular skins and champ shards with no chance for anything exciting or rare no one would buy them. They'll just spend their money on be exact things they want.

I don't understand the complaints. It's not misleading. They say upfront the loot exclusive skins are rare and they also already revealed gemstones have a 4% drop rate. Every event they usually have a guaranteed gemstone or two so if you REALLY want something you do have a reliable way of purchasing it now it's just very expensive.

If you don't think the skin is worth the price don't buy loot and don't try to get gemstones in events.

The people who really want the skins will spend the money and those that think the value isn't there won't.

It sounds like you think the skins in hextech exclusive aren't worth their price. Obscenely high after you factor in drop rate and/or only buying gemstone guaranteed stuff at events.

And that's ok! They are honestly overpriced and not worth it. I have 3 of the exclusives(don't have lancer zero yet) and honestly they are just normalcy skins. No special voiceover. and every champ that has a mythic skin has a good alternative. Except vayne.

But I digress, just don't invest the money if you've don't want it.

They never revealed that, it's just an estimate players have come to by looking at droprate samples. They also never reveal how the droprates are different in the various limited time caches and orbs tied to events or how microscopic the odds of the mythic shards dropping directly despite them being a major advertised feature of the orbs.

They SAY that Dreadnova Darius can drop from Great Orbs for this event, but they leave out the part that the droprate could be as low as 1 in 1,000 orbs, meaning that you would be better off buying orbs that drop gemstones at a rate that's slightly higher (which is also only something that has been estimated based on PBE samples, NOT any officially released information) even if your only target is Dreadnova Darius.

And if you ask Riot about droprates they just restate already revealed information that is completely worthless to your actual question while acting like they have given you good advice.

And you can also randomly pull these skins out of chests anyway. Or you can reroll any of the 3 skins (if you have all the skins) to get the only skins you don't have, which are Gemstone skins.

In the last event (VS event), Riot also included Soulstealer Vayne and Hextech Annie in the Orbs that were sold for event points so you had a chance to get lucky. Riot's pretty much giving you a lot of chances to roll for it, despite costing you gemstones that you can't get that easily.

The droprates for mythic skin shards directly are a joke. It's looking like the odds for the good/great/mega orbs to drop their signature mythic skin are in the vicinity of 1 in 1,000 (not a typo) as the only decent sample size so far was 500 each of the great and and mega orbs which yielded exactly one mythic skin shard.

ive opened 634 chests since hextech started and gotten 1 gemstone. I used it on a box because I had it for 2 years without ever seeing another, now this dumb mission pass gives me another. so i have had 2 in my total life.

Since they introduced gemstones I've only gotten two. It's literally impossible without dumping several hundred dollars on chests.

i mean. gemstone skins are supposed to be rare.

and theyre adding these skins to event boxes a lot lately which already makes them accessable to a lot of people. and theyre throwing around more gemstones.

this is more supposed to be about additional choices for people who dont give a fuck about the 2 or 3 champions that have a gemstone skin.

theyre probably going to add a lot more of those in the future.

98 percent of my chests have been obtained via S rank. Since the launch of hextech loot, I've gotten around 12-15 gemstones, and each one was turned into more chests. Feels bad man for my impatient self

No idea how many chests I've got but I've had one gemstone and I spent it on something and I forget what.

I still don't care about any of the Gemstone skins. They're all monocolor copout skins. The Annie one is just a readability nightmare; it's impossible to know when that fireball is coming unless you're fundamentally tuning into the fact that it's lightning now. Vayne barely has FX to change and the Darius one is runner-up for 'splash that's less interesting than base splash.'
