Am I the only one concerned for Urgot?

First, he has an orientation-based passive. While it is omni-directional and "self-targeted" - unlike Fiora's - it still doesn't translate well into the late-game, where any amount of CC or escape potential could make it worthless. On the other hand, if you give him too much static mobility for the sake of his passive, he becomes genuinely unstoppable.

Second, while on the subject of mobility, his charge is seemingly a superior version of Volibear's. No doubt if it has enough damage or range, it'll end fights before they even begin.

Third, his ultimate, while still a positive addition, spits in the face of tanks with "true death" while they're already pretty down in the dumps. Considering he's going to be taken top lane, that hurts the chances of tanks recovering.

Fourth... CertainlyT is designing him, and he has a track record for overloaded and difficult-to-balance kits.

  • Thresh Forever The Meta Support
  • Yasuo The anti-fun edgelord.
  • Zed The original anti-fun edgelord.
  • Kalista The most anti-fun ADC right after...
  • Caitlyn The most banned ADC.

There's also several others that would require more discussion, but you get the point.

Overall, I'm excited, but I don't want to see him over-nerfed or hated by the community just when he finally gets his chance to shine.

He's gonna be broken when he comes out obviously but a few nerfs will do it!

Honestly i dont think hes going to be that bad. Hes a medium range juggernaut; thats pretty much it.

Also his ultimate isnt true death. Tryndamere, kayle, and kindred stilll ignore it.

Can't count Kindred; She'll be dragged out of her ring.

Not if she does it close to him.

If she's a good Kindred at all, she'll just Q outta the way xD but yeah, I suppose. idk how these darn executes work anyway.

That's what everybody said about WW but they nerfed him

No comment on Urgot.. I'll wait to see how he actually plays.

But all of those champs were designed by the same guy? That's very interesting, and explains a lot... =\

You know who else he did? Warwick. CT has been moved to the VGU team since before warwick came out. ANd hes done a fantastic job there.

Eh. CertainlyT also did WW, and that was a GREAT rework by most metrics. Let's not put the cart before the horse here.

Voli gets movespeed with his flip instead of a dash, so I consider it inherently different. Urgot's is a short range re-position, and I think it'll work much better than Voli's in the current state of the game.

As always, it's a "wait-and-see" kind of thing. I know a lot of people love to make predictions about things being OP or sub-par, but I've always preferred to just wait and see with gameplay issues. It's hard to know exactly how strong or weak something is until you see it on the Rift (and analyze the resulting stats). If it was easy to tell by looking at the kit on paper, more of the community would correctly predict balance problems before they hit live.

A dash is generally much faster than basic movement and is much harder to disable, and that's what I meant by "superior".

I think if it weren't for the state of Zac and Lee Sin, Warwick would be considered a bigger issue given that he's in the top 5 if not the top 3 junglers right now. I've never said there's anything inherently wrong with his kit, but his numbers still need more tuning.

"Wait and see"? For some reason the community hive-mind doesn't see things until it's far too late. Death's Dance didn't "become a problem" until two patches after its buffs. Drain-tanking has always been a problem, but only recently has everyone gathered up in arms about it. (Before there were only a few threads here and there.) Damage creep was getting worse ever since the Juggernaut update, but nobody cared until season 7 started with "the burst meta" that has still not been fixed... This community is half-insane. There are still people that think a Sunfire Cape toggle is a bad idea. Let's not trust the community to take a gander at Urgot's state of power.

? Well, that's kinda my point. You, whether you like it or not, are part of the community. By saying "wait and see" to someone in the community complaining about Urgot's state of power, that's what I'm doing. I'm not trusting the community to correctly assess his state of power when he hasn't even gone to PBE yet :^)

So, we agree. The only difference, I suppose, is that you and I are "the community" to each other, but not to ourselves.

Fair point about WW though. He may be a bit overtuned. I think, though, that numbers can likely fix it. He's not in a terrible design state.

This Urgot seems to be Riot's answer to everybody whining about Fiora. She's going to shred herself trying to dance around Urgot.
