How to Balance MF for both ADC and Mid

The recent champion update of Miss Fortune had its good and bad points.

Pros: Her Passive got a small tweak so that it could not be broken by non-damaging CC

Double up got a small buff where it deals 150% damage instead if the first shot kills the enemy

Impure Shots can now be used to activate Strut to potentially escape

The increased slow on early levels of Make it Rain helps MF's lack of escapes

Cons: Passive is still broken by minion damage. (WHY?)

Double up bounce angle was nerfed and while it might make more sense it hurt MF players more than you think

Grievous Wounds removal on Impure Shots (not particularly important)

Changes Suggested:

While I consider the update a small overall Buff there are still very important things that need to be tweaked in order for MF to be at the same level as competitive ADCs.

There are a variety of problems with MF as a champion. First, she has no escape other than her slow on her E and her passive which is quite unreliable. The fact that she cannot move while casting Bullet Time also solidifies her status as one of the most immobile ADCs.

The difference between MF and other immobile ADCs is the power. Other immobile ADCs such as Jinx and Kogmaw are considered hypercarries and have great late game potential. On the other hand MF's W scales with AD but does magic damage while her R scales with AP but deals physical damage so she cannot even get the ideal armor and magic penetration to have the same impact.

This made me think about what MF's identity is. As far as I can tell her gameplay revolves around dueling and teamfighting by getting stacks of Impure Shots. Her Q allows her to apply stacks faster and her W gives her an attack speed buff as well. Her Ultimate also applies stacks of Impure Shots (the only scaling damage you will get on her R with ADC MF). Then why is it that her Make it Rain does not apply Impure Shots?

I propose that MF's Impure Shots have their AP Ratio returned and that her Make It Rain applies Impure Shots per tick.

By giving Impure Shots an AP Ratio we can finally allow Mage Fortune to become more viable and maybe even competitive. It would help her not be almost completely reliant on her Ultimate.

Giving Make it Rain the ability to apply Impure Shots per tick fits how MF plays as a champion. It also makes a lot of sense with her Bullet Time since your goal is to apply impure Shots across the entire enemy team. By using Make it Rain before casting Bullet Time, one could potentially get a lot more damage on multiple enemies in teamfights.

While that would be the main change, other small tweaks would include not making her passive be disrupted by minions and reverting or slightly buffing MF's Q bounce radius. Her passive is pretty useless in lane and her Q bounce radius feels a tad too small now.

TLDR: Give MF's Impure Shots an AP ratio again and allow her Make it Rain to apply Impure Shots. Also tweak her passive so minions can't break it and her Q bounce radius a little bigger.

Keep MF exactly as she is, but remove minions breaking her strut passive. That should be enough, for her to be healthy. MF isn't a Mage. If you want her in the midlane, then build her to her strengths, like Cait, Jayce, and Varus.

Strut needs to not be broken by creeps like you said. Other than that, I'd just make R do physical damage. Or at least reverse the scalings, so that the ad portion doesn't deal magic damage, and vice versa. >.>

W having an ap ratio for people who liked AP mf shouldn't hurt anything. Her E applying stacks might be overbearing though. If overtuned she would utterly obliterate whole teams with that. Maybe test on PBE what it'd be like if every second tick added a stack first, is what I would try. Though this might be unnecessary in general if they fixed her ult.

On the topic of minions disabling passive, the shield buff on passive did help her a bit in that regard.

Though I agree on minions shouldn't disable her passive, it shouldn't be from the get go. Her passive should get the ability to ignore minion damage around mid-game (level 9/11 or so) since having that from level 1 would be a pretty big buff to her early game. The reason being is that as we all know, she's a pretty mean lane bully early game, and minions hitting back after she hits an enemy champion is a healthy weakness. In my experience, I rarely lose my passive to the enemy, but rather I lose it to minions because I just poked the enemy hard with Double up, and that's fine since Double Up's ricochet can deal some serious damage (I've poked off a fourth of the enemy ADC's total health with it at times, that's brutal for one ability.)

We definitely don't need any more ADCs going mid. Riot needs to nerf the AP ADCs to encourage them to stay bottom. There are WAY fewer ADCs in the game than mids.
