RIP ancient coin 2013-2019
Why are they removing this item? It is much more reliable than spellthiefs and ends up generating more gold, at the cost of early game damage.

Apparently they didn't want to have 2 different types of defensive supp items...
As a support main, I am sad that coin is being removed too. It was THE item for lower tier support when you are stuck with autofilled lower tier adcs. Try playing a Thresh when you get adcs that regularly deny you the cannon. Or being stuck playing Rakan, Janna or Soraka with a lower tier Vayne or Ezreal.
I might just abandon the support role if we don't get good news about the new support items. (And no, Riot, what you are proposing mathematically is garbage for us support mains.)
Back to the old times when supports had no gold and were just there to spend their few bucks in wards and could only contemplate the grey screen of fun. These were such great times...
It is because they said something about it being too safe. They want people to interact more.
Riot doesn't want us to have nice things.
