I feel I'm the only one who doesn't care about ranked

Most of the times I invite someone, the answer is "I'm doing a ranked sorry", "I'm on ranked", "I'm doing my placement match" and so on.

I don't play ranked.

I used to, until I figured them out.

  1. Ranked is 40% skill and 60% luck. End up with a troll/afk/feeder and you're screwed. End up in a bad team and you're screwed.

  2. Ranked makes people angry. You think League players harass others, well, they do it 200%+ more in ranked. Normal games are becoming more and more chill; ranked games are angrier and angrier.

  3. Ranked rewards are only a skin for a character you might not even play, and an useless e-peen. Sadly, I just can't care about e-peens, especially when they require a huge hassle instead of fun.

Yet, I feel I'm the only one who feels this way.

40% skill? dont make me laugh. Skill is non existant atm. you can just pick the most braindead meta champ and climb 2-3 divisions with it in a week. I remember people who were master and started abusing ryze and jayce and they end up challenger 500lp a few days later.

If you wanna climb abuse meta and win. Not liek you gonna maintain your rank if you metawhore since the champs you abused usually get nerfed just sayin tho. if you want fast results abuse broken picks you have my word you will climb 110%

it doesn't matter what is that % of luck requiered in rankeds

it is absolute that there is a % of skill involved in it some people have it and climb some people don't and thus are stuck in their elo

the luck in ranked is a factor that can be removed by playing a lot of games to summon the law of large numbers

Coming from a silver player who eventually gave up on climbing I have to say that it certainly appears to be much more luck related than skill. I for example have a couple good buddies that also play. Easily the best player out of the 3 of us ended up finishing low silver last season, I finished s2, and the worst of the 3 of us by leaps and bounds got lucky with a few solo queues got into gold, and didn't play for 3 months.

Typically when I play normals I'm matched with Gold/Plat players, I tend to average around 160cs at the 20 minute mark and a KDA of around 3.5-4. Yet I never seem to climb past silver 1. Every promo is the same story. 2 guys afk. A rager quitter. Dome guy gets pissed and goes 0/20/3. My net goes out. Or I'll have 10-15 game periods when my every game has a bunch of players that ar at like 80CS at 20 minutes, or just don't know how to end, or when to go for objectives. Or I'll get auto-filled Support and end up with a team that couldn't carry water in a bucket let alone a game. I will admit a personal weakness being most of the supports I prefer don't make good secondary carries. End up back in S2 or S3 then repeat the process.

I'm not saying I'm a great player, but I do think the ranks we get are typically only accurate within one tier level. I certainly feel competitive with Gold players and some low Plat, while I've seen guys in high silver/low gold that are without a doubt Bronze material.

"appears" is a great word, because while it "appears" in reality it isn't if you have enough skill you climb, i don't see how people are still denying that

over the past year in every season i climbed in season 2, 3, and now in season 7, i didn't climb in season 6 where i didn't play because of dynamic queue

am i lucky? maybe, like i said i don't know the % of luck that is requiered, but if i managed to climb in 3 different seasons that must say that i had something that is superior to luck yOU can't say that it's more luck related than skill you can't

When i was new to this game i was so close to quitting because of how much toxic there was. Now i learned that those toxic players were usually smurfs who played against noobs just to stomp them and got pis..sed if their team mates were also noobish. Since after that i decided i would never play ranked and hinder my team until i get good enough. Sadly that time hasn't come yet because i end up maining champs that are weak and out of meta. Due to meta having such a big influence on games i just don't want to play ranked and screw it for everyone. I just play for fun :D so we are on the same page OP.

Isk about the 40% skill thing, but I do agree about the rest. The rewards are shit for me. Now if they gave out RP or something, or maybe a skin for Braum or Shen, then yes. Otherwise.... EH.

I don't care whether I'm playing ranked or norms, but when my scrub friends say they will reach X rank before me then it becomes personal >:(

Most people tends to take ranked way more seriously than normal games, I can't really have fun if my opponents are not tryharding, and it's way more likely to have opponents tryharding in ranked games rather than in normal games

(ranked games where people dont care, and normal games where people tryhard may happen, but the opposite is more likely to happen).

Plus, my MMR in ranked is my MMR with less than 5 champions, if i switched right now these 5 champions to 5 totaly new champions i never played before, I would drop 4 or 5 whole divisions, then start climbing again slowly.

My MMR in normal games is totaly fucked up, since I dont play to win, i'm playing new champions, trying some funny stuff, playing with bronze and master friends in the same game. Even in my decision making, in my ranked games i know when it's safe to keep chassing and when it's not. I would play safe and never overextend (well at least i try to). When i'm in a normal game, I'll chasse everytime, just to see what would happen. I'm litteraly playing like a mad dog who just took LSD.

If right now i played normal game in full tryhard mode, i would probably win the next 30 games until my MMR is high enough to match my ranked MMR. But then, if someday i want to play a bit less tryhard and a bit more "off meta" (you know, vayne offtank or stuff like that), I would lose every single game since it only works if i'm way better than my opponents.

Lmao at people saying it's luck, with that mentality you will never climb. I find that even in very hard games with all other lanes losing, you still have a chance as long as you're not playing support and you're going insane try hard focus on the game no tilt. Nvm when you have a decent team, the game will feel like a blow in the wind if you are any good and you won't even need to try. Yea some games are just plain impossible to carry but to say luck is even among the top 5 factors determining your elo is ridiculous unless you've only played like 30 games since season start

Except with bad luck you could be autofilled every 3 games, and get crap teamates that game every time. Even if you normally win 2/3 games with the current autofill system you could very well end up winning 4, losing 2, and have 2 hopeless autofill games. Sadly the way the game is designed it isn't who has the single best player, it's which team has the single worst player.

Also this get's compounded when your worst 2 players might be your top and jungle, while their best 2 might be jungle and mid. If you're best 2 players are bot lane... you will probably lose that game.

And do you think that matters when you've played more than 100 games and everything evens out on both teams? by the end of the season if you're still where you think you don't belong, it's 100% your fault

I feel the same way... tried some ranked last season but after 14 games in a row with a troll/afk on my team i realized it was worth nothing and only gave me lower quality games.

It's even worst when you realize you can place gold faster by rolling a new account, pumping cash into the money machine, and just duo queuing with a gold+ for your placement.Win 6/10 and you'll be placed gold 5.

And do you really think if you roll a 20 sided die that you're going to get one of each number?

Randomness doesn't even out until you get a sample size in the 4-5 digits.

We have players in Challenger with less than 50 games played this season.
