I feel my reports are completely useless.

I sometimes get players insulting me and/or the rest of the team, the entire game. I never aswer back, but at the end of the match, I report them.

I have NEVER received the advise that a toxic player was banned thanks to my report. I think I saw it ONCE.... in two years of playing.

I think Riot didn't punish any of them, no matter how full of hate and vulgar insults they were.

I am frankly starting to feel very discouraged, as this game is telling me that acting like a jerk never gets punished.

i got a lot of messages of people who i reported getting punished..

i got about 8 this month.. feels good man .. feels good

EndlessIsolation1/27/2017, 12:39:01 PM10 votes

I think you only get the notification if your report is the one that pushed them over the threshold.

Venomar1/27/2017, 2:16:31 AM6 votes

Has to be chronic behaviour unfortunately. Usually light, periodic flaming won't get someone banned.

I've had a few punishment messages pop up recently. Although I usually only report the assiest of asses.

Neckoe1/27/2017, 7:22:58 AM4 votes

I know what you mean. What you need to keep in mind though, is that you'll only recieve the message if your report was the last report that triggered the punishment.

Nameless Voice1/28/2017, 2:36:38 PM4 votes

I think the problem isn't so much that no one punished banned (I see messages about players I've reported being punished quite often), but rather that the information isn't visible enough to the playerbase at large.

If you report someone and they are banned, you may get a notification. But other than that, and maybe some reading on these boards, you have no idea that players are actually being punished for their bad behaviour.

This leads to an impression that reports do nothing and that misbehaving players are never punished, and that impression (true or not) leads to players believing that they can get away with bad behaviours without penalty. It doesn't even matter if the players get punished afterwards - there are so many people playing League that for every one who gets punished for their bad behaviour and reforms, two more take their place. Two more players who believe that being toxic is considered acceptable because they don't know any better. They see that behaviour in almost all of their games, so it must be the way people behave, and since there's no information available on how many players get banned, they can easily assume that almost no one ever does.

Fegone1/27/2017, 2:54:32 PM4 votes

I get about 1 per month, on average.

The thing is, a lot of the people you report probably do get punished. However, only the person who last reported the toxic player, basically the last report that was needed for the punishment, gets the notification. if 101 people report someone for being toxic, and that player gets punished, the first 100 do not get that notification, only report #101 does.

I was told to hang myself 4 times by my mid laner just because I went 0/2 in lane, I reported the mid laner and didn't get a notification saying the player was punished

YokoNomi1/26/2017, 10:18:08 PM3 votes

I think I've been given a total of three to four notifications so far today, about reports I've sent through having its supposed effect. While there are times where it does feel like it falls on deaf ears, if a person is toxic enough, it won't take long for them to be penalized for their behavior. The amount of people I've had to report within the past few days is actually rather sickening though. So many people deliberately being toxic, either due to the rank/elo they're in, or otherwise, just because they think they can in their given situation. It makes it hard to both progress in ranked, and sustain what patience I have left with the community I typically have to work with during my matches.

That's not to say I've lost hope. I'm just incredibly annoyed.

Velgam1/27/2017, 9:10:17 AM3 votes

This is all bs lies, to those saying reports work and get those pop ups, sorry m8 those are all lies, trust me, reports DO NOT WORK, seen a guy troll over 50+ games, never got banned he still plays atm, seen a guy troll 23+ games in plat rank, still nothing happened, sorry to tell you but you are just wasting your time reporting people.

Sckullzz1/27/2017, 5:42:23 PM3 votes

Reporting does work tho. You may not get the message saying that a player got punished, but if they keep doing the same dumb toxic shit, they WILL get punished eventually.

ScarletSurgeon1/27/2017, 10:03:37 AM2 votes

I realized that normally no one gets punished if I report someone alone; but if someone on the other team also reports the player, the Report Feedback Pop-Up is far more likely to appear.

I don't usually ask for reports from the other team.... but If I think it's necessary I will do so, because the success rate of it going through, is 80% higher than usual reports from just myself.

I'm from EUW too maybe that makes a difference because people curse and insult in so many different languages but the system feels kinda underwhelming...

ArnoldSchwarzens1/26/2017, 9:48:05 PM2 votes

Went on a drunk inting spree not too long ago and I got banned after only 2 games, in less than 2 hours. I also get the message that someone got penalized because of my report very often, like 2 times every week or so.

I'd say the system is working as intended, maybe you just got unlucky and you were the only one reporting them so they didn't get much attention. A lot of people just don't bother with it and just move onto the next game.

Private Pepega1/26/2017, 9:40:10 PM2 votes

Dont think about it that way man, yea people are jerks on this game and they do get punished. I think there just has to be multiple people reporting the person to get the message of immediate feedback. And trust me people do get punished, look at Tyler1 possibly the most toxic player (now reformed I think) got banned on multiple accounts. Then there was the legend Dunkey who got banned for 2 weeks for saying some nasty stuff. So sometimes riot pays attention, one thing you could do screen shot what they say then send it to riot.

BungalowB1/27/2017, 6:35:26 PM2 votes

Riot reviews all reports that are submitted. If your report pushes them over to a bad account status, you will get a notification. So just keep reporting people and don't worry about it. But please be sure to only report those that are actually toxic, and not those that are just trying to help you play your role better. Learn to be a coach-able player

MUSHROOM MIDGET1/27/2017, 12:55:04 AM2 votes

there is a trick to it. once you notice you have a toxic player, dont mute them. bait them into saying as much as you can. they seem to need to say multiple things for the system to get them.

i have gotten the little message 7 or 8 times. i havent seen it in a while though. i also think reports count for less if you report often. so even if someone is toxic, id advise saving your reports for the really bad ones.

Φέρετρο2/27/2019, 8:30:46 PM1 votes

You know what's useless? reporting someone, blocking someone, and then next game he is in the lobby with you again.

Pandemic Punch1/27/2017, 6:15:13 PM1 votes

Out of my last 4 normals, I have had 3 afk's. They afk'd to grieve the team. Needless to say I stopped playing for the rest of today and maybe today as well since I am tired of this bullsheeet :)

Mizuki Zahra1/27/2017, 9:19:42 PM1 votes

Toxic Behavior is a chain reaction caused by Riot. Let me explain:

Player 1 is having a good time

Player 2 is a troll/int feeder

Player 2 feeds, game is a loss due to that and Players 1,3,4,5 are slightly agitated. Player 2 tells the enemy team to report their team, enemy team reports everyone except player 2 because player 2 gave them a free win, simple as that. Now, player 2 having just been reported even if flagged has time to ruin 3-5 more games for people. This ultimately leads in already aggrivated people dealing with some bs mechanics Riot has such as overloaded kits and trash tier turrets.

Player 2 is still going strong on the feed montage, consistent games are being ruined. Other players start not giving a flying f**k in there games anymore. After 6 games, Player 2 gets a 24hour ban(lol) Now riot gets to deal with at least 10 more people pulling the same crap. Each day, every hour, of every game. This is how I became toxic myself, and did I want to be? No I truly did not, in fact half the time I yell at people, I feel terrible and wish I could stop but it does no good because even if I do stop yelling at them, or I don't say anything at all, I still get reported because I didn't ward mid lane while I was in bot lane.

The game is trash and it's unbalanced, and I'm quite glad I uninstalled it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

DunkMasterGG1/28/2017, 3:34:43 AM1 votes

Agreed, I've never whatever message you're talking about, I've probably sent 15 reports, 10 of which for being bots, clearly cheating, no items, going the same path every time, etc. I'll be happy to help you guys build bot detection, it really isn't rocket surgery and obviously you guys have coders that know c / c++.

I agree, I also believe that reports don't do anything. Actually, I just got banned for 14 days because I was defending my Fiancee on chat. It was utter bullshit as they were flaming as well.

I have been playing this game for over 3 years and never once has one of my reports on someone else gone thru, and someone been punished. I just got punished now for defending my Fiancee because they started yelling at him in chat.

Their whole system is utter crap, and I wish they could see it.

Skencer1/30/2017, 10:33:10 AM1 votes

I feel the same especially since most people have multiple accounts anyways so a ban does no good. That being said I'm pretty sure that people you report can no longer get placed in your team. So that's something.

raisul islam 5/7/2017, 5:15:48 AM1 votes

Several people flamed me for using my name and guess what thanks to riot those scrubs are banned :D. Thank you riot for preventing racism :D

I tracked about 50 of the worst trolls I met in the game (the kind that feed all game while calling you a fa ggot and tell the enemies where your team is, or threaten to kill you and your entire family ones without any prompting) and not a single one was ever banned and none seemed to even have a time lapse in their game play.

I got a temp ban and my rewards for the entire year taken away one season though because I said "report this troll" in to many games where I'd been harassed all game or by a feeder, or afk, or other type of troll (there are a lot of different types).

So yea, riot doesn't punish trolls they punish the ones who get trolled. Which is why there are so many in the game, why the game has become the joke of the gaming community and why the second a better game comes out lol will die. (I've noticed overwatch has sucked quite a few players away)

Paquay1/27/2017, 1:04:38 AM1 votes

All you have to do is browse this forum once a day and you can rest assured that reporting does work and people are being punished.

With that said, there is probably an over abundance of reporting that goes on. I've had a lot of matches where you can tell someone is on the edge of tilting and losing their shit, but rather than try and push them off the cliff I just tell them to focus and that we can win if we get one solid team fight in.

Sometimes it doesn't work, but it helps often. I have to report far less of I stay calm and let them know to chill. I don't threaten reports are anything like that. Just understand that they're frustrated because they want to win just like you....

.....but if they continue to flame, burn that mother to the ground! Lol

BurningDolphins 1/27/2017, 10:43:22 PM1 votes

It would be quite ridiculous for you to think you should be able to ban a player for one game they raged at you. Some people have actual anger problems they can't control and ya they shouldn't type but this is a video game

AnonymousIvy1/26/2017, 11:11:17 PM1 votes

I understand the feeling, I don't report people all that often. Most of the time I mute them, but since they introduced the notifications I have only had 1 and that was when the entirety of both teams reported them because they were flaming both teams in all chat. Also when I pointed out an afk on my team who was stood on spawn they tried to get me reported for saying they were afk. I also get flamed by premades from time to time and I'm always worried that if they report me their reports will carry more weight than mine because there's more of them. I wish there was some way that you could view your reports after you'd sent them off to see the exact outcome or add evidence or something so you could at least feel like you were making more of a difference.

jama6551/27/2017, 2:54:03 PM1 votes

i got them everyonce in awhile its important to know that riot doesnt punish the occasional pric they hit the consistent. one guy in a game going HAM isnt ban worth R.I.P the tribunal

AdeBug1/26/2017, 10:19:30 PM1 votes

Me either, only afk reports give me a notif. Meanwhile, they ban people in Norms. Yay, the system works.

LEEROY KLEDKINS1/27/2017, 4:16:03 PM1 votes

You only get messages randomly and the message of someone getting banned or chat or ranked restricted comes after 5 minutes when your match is over.

Last year I got a 2 week ban where I lost my marbles hardcore and in just one game i got suspended for intentional feeding for 30 minutes straight.

Take it from me as proof that you can get banned for just one match so if you guys think of trolling like i did ages ago then you better reconsider your choice and just suck it up.

I've banned or chat restricted 27 people in this game myself the message comes up rarely you can also get a message of a banned player you met 2 days ago because that player you reported has been toxic in multiple games in a row and the game messages you as one of your reports led that player to getting suspended.

Hate to break it to you but alot of people are just toxic turds, get some friends or friendly online players with you.

Most of the time i just ignore and mute players even sometimes i have to leave their lane (even as a support main) but as i mentioned above i have been triggered before and got myself banned for me getting angry over someone talking trash to me.

Some of my support matches i get adcs who will ping the shit out of me for no good reason other than them being upset angry little children/man children and just talk trash constantly so i just ignore them and assist the jungler or top laner.
