If I mained Galio, I'd feel so disappointed now.

I like the rework. Galio went from "a character I just never play" to "a character I could certainly play sometime".

But here's the thing.

He looks SO DIFFERENT from how he was, that my thought goes to my mains and how I would feel if they were reworked into someone so different (basically.... into someone else). I'd feel like my main was removed from the game and replaced with someone else.

It doesn't matter if I actually like this new Galio better than the old one. I just think.... if such a big change happened to one of my mains, I'd be so pissed.

Now I kinda hope the Swain rework doesn't happen that soon.

My issue with people that feel this way is that if Riot listened to these people, their hands are essentially tied when trying to express their creativity with these champ concepts.

Think about it. For obvious reasons Riot will never make another gargoyle champion, so they are going all out on Galio, making him as great as they can. If their hands were tied because of a poor design from long ago, then they are essentially stifled and there really is no point to a VGU is there? If they are always going to look the same why improve?

Personally, I would have preferred if they kept the old sad and sulky Galio, rather than make him a cocky superhero.

This isn't even Galio. This is like Galio's older and more handsome brother. Nothing about Galio was retained in this rework. Not a single feature or ability.

Galio was the first champion I ever played in League and I hate to say it but his new visual design is just not Galio at all. Completely different. The character went from dark and gloomy to cocky and super cheesy. I hope Riot makes a Traditional Galio skin because his new base skin is bleh.

What? Take a better look, he's just standing up straighter and is a different color. Seriously, make new Galio hunch over and you'll immediately recognize him as Galio. It all comes down to personal taste, but I think that he looks a lot cooler and more unique now rather than just being a literal gargoyle.

I know what you mean and I was thinking about this today myself. I would be devastated if Ashe Caitlyn Jinx got thematically reworked to something as drastically different as the new Galio. Yes, gameplay mechanics and abilities will be changed through the years, but if Ashe lost her blue dress and cape, Cait lost her hat, or Jinx was turned into female Liam Neeson, I might not feel like I wanted to play them as much.

Yes, the new Galio looks a lot more enticing to play than the old one, but I feel bad for the few people who loved how he was before.

I'm not a galio main, and even I don't like the look.

I. Applauded the Warwick update, other than some lore change and no longer a werewolf but a chimera (only thing I hate), they at least kept the basics of him yet updated.

The new galio on the other hand...It's like riot shot the moon with Warwick, fired again for galio and completely missed the mark

This rework is a relaunch tbh. Nothing really remains of the original galio. Aesthetics are complelely new, abilities are totally new.

It honestly scares me. I play a lot of Kayle and if they do this to her. I'd be devastated.

As an Anivia main, I fear the day they rework her. She's a very underplayed champion and while I'd argue she's perfectly designed as is, that doesn't mean they won't rework her.

Honestly, I'd probably quit the game if they reworked her =/, so I definitely feel for Galio mains out there.

Galio is one of my main mids, I'm not sure how I feel about this rework. I definitely like the new look, his old look was really dated. The new abilities are wait and see. I just hope he remains a tanky mid AP mage. I liked the fact that I could blind pick him and be confident that I wouldn't be hard countered too bad.

they did the same thing to my taric, he looks and plays differently than what I'm used to

now I fear the same thing is happening to galio, and if it is I pray to urgod that singed isn't next on their "REWORK" list

Thank for your empathy, for me the worst part is the personality change even more then the visual. The feel and core of who a champ is is far more meaningful then the skin they are in... Take Draven, you remove that cocky, show boat personality and replace it with self conscious vicious brute-- the player would hurt from that MORE then if they made him buff- or rail thin...

Pretty much the overall sense I've gotten over the course of the last couple days is that there are 2 groups of players here:

People who don't play Galio: They all think he looks way more interesting now.

People who DO play Galio (like me): He's not even the same champion anymore, they ruined him.

I understand why people like the change, I mean it is a more "interesting" kit. But for all intents and purposes my 3rd most played champ just got deleted from the game and was replaced with something completely unrecognizable. I basically have to learn a brand new champ, they should have left Galio alone and added this thing as a new champ. They're so completely different in play style and appearance they could've easily gotten away with it. Debonair skin (the one I use the most) looks like crap too.

I love his new kit, but I just HATE how he looks. I cannot get myself to like his new art style...
