Anyone here put off by Riot's current art decisions?

When all you see of a character is a lizard tail, and yet everyone correctly predicts it's actually going to be a cute moe anime girl.

This is when the art style has a problem.

Sometime during 2017, Riot (or Tencent) decided that anime waifus are what sells in this game.

I don't think current Riot could EVER give us female characters like Taliyah, Illaoi, Kindred or Kalista.

But that kind of characters are why I once loved this game.

I repeat. It was a lizard tail and a flower that we have seen, and people already correctly assumed it was another anime girl.

League used to be much more than this. Now all I see are edgy boys and hot chicks.

I have to agree. It's somewhat annoying because it's not like we don't have the "cutesy playful girl mage" in the game. Design and personality wise, she's the same as Zoe/Lux/Lulu, etc. The problem is: that's what brings money, unfortunately. So they are forced to create characters like that over and over again.

People assume every champion will be a cute moe anime girl. People assumed Sion's rework would make him a cute moe anime girl. People assumed Yasuo would be a cute moe anime girl. People assumed Ivern would be a cute moe anime girl.

How about we just accept the fact that zomg cute moe anime girl is a thing and move on with our lives. I'd rather a cute moe anime girl who fits the character design than something else that doesn't. Unless you want a burly rugged realistic dude who runs on all fours and has the playstyle of a cute moe anime girl.

Well people will always predict "oh its going to be a good looking girl" with every champion, because there's always a fraction of the player base that wants more sexy/cute girls in the game.

That being said I do think that the champions this year were a bit underwhelming in terms of artistic design. Kaisas design is probably the worst design of any champions in years and while I think that Pyke is ok,he is a bit generic.

I'd actually say that out of the 3 new champs this year Neeko has the most interesting design, with the chameleon tail, the colorful eyes and weird running animation, but the fact that she is a cute monster girl just screams "play it safe to sell more",so I can't help but feel like they wasted some potential here.(though to be fair,up until now we really didn't have a champ that fit the "cute monster girl"-trope anyway)

I mean, this all stems from a couple years ago when the (female?) players bitched and complained that there wasn't enough female champion diversity--as in, all the female champions were visually appealing, sexy ladies. Which then led Riot to create more female characters that were distinctively not "hot" or "sexy" (or just the standard female-video-game-character hourglass body figure). Hence we got RekSai Illaoi Taliyah Camille Zoe Xayah.

So now, with Neeko, we see the same pattern of 1) creating a female character to add more female characters to a male-character dominated game, and 2) creating a female character that is not a stereotypical sexy lady like the majority of the existing female champions.

So basically, now we get a hybrid of Xayah and Zoe: a Vastaya....child? Hopefully after this we'll be good with "spunky children" characters, because god forbid they add one more and now we've got too many "cute" and "spunky" little girls running on the Rift (I guess Yordles can't be the cute little ones anymore?)

I mean they cannot even be bothered to work on VU for their current roster. Pizza feat, older models, incomplete models and so much more. Creating new champions with other parts of current champion kits and abilities with a fresh new model, is the way this company works. Riot Game Developers don't care anymore about their older champions. They have 4 new champions planned between now and March. They only have 1 VGU and 1 mini-VGU planned between now and March.

Who cares at this point. These Developers DO NOT CARE.
