Can't Recall Winning A Game In S7 That Started With A Top-Side Leash

People want to know why I refuse to leash as a Top laner and this is why. Seriously, every single time I leash for someone they tell me "this game is going to be different just watch" and guess what, it never is.

There's only two things that come out of forcing your Top lane to leash. 1.) You get a worse leash because one Top laner doesn't have the damage of an ADC and Support or 2.) You get a decent leash and your Top laner is missing farm and lane control right at the beginning of the game.

Seriously, making your Top leash for you is not the right answer unless you plan on early ganking his lane. Even then, that's risky and can easily backfire in itself. Starting Bottom or Raptors is such a better choice which will have less impact on the early portions of the game.

Hit 3 times, press Q and go to lane - you won't miss anything and should be back in lane on time to finish the first 3 minions that are going to be low on health.

Okay with that advice, your Jungler is fucked. He's going to have to tank the rest of that buff out.. he won't be able to gank. He'll fall behind the other Jungler and become more vulnerable to counter Jungling.

If Jungler after that leash is low HP he's garbage and his ganks wouldn't help you either

That's not even remotely true. Unless you are smiting the buff, a 3 hit leash from a top laner will be hard on ANY Jungler who doesn't have built in sustain like Lee Sin's lifesteal. You could use potions to heal back up, but you only get 2 of those if you are running flask and they don't heal as much as just a regular health potion. Blue can be kited, but if it's red, yes he's totally fucked. Slower leash, taking more damage, you can't deny REAL facts. The other Jungler with two people or a raptor leash is always going to be farther ahead in this scenario.

I play Kindred, you know, the jungler who got removed heal on W, the one considered weak by many. A lot of time my laners decide to not leash me and I did my clear and gank witout it. I don't have any lifesteal runes or anything. And I don't smite my starting camp, which is Red 90% of time. How do you explain it?

GayFluffyUnicorn3 votes

Because kindred is actually ranged and can decently kite it.... which is not possible on a melee which make up the vast majority of junglers.

"REAL" facts like: ANY Jungler who doesn't have built in sustain Hunter's Machete gives 10% lifesteal, any optimized jungle player will be ready to have "shit leash" because they are prepared to have no leash when they start on red, because they plan to get past the golden gates to escape silver rank. This, however, doesn't mean that the "shit leash" is useless, because the "shit leash" as I already pointed out, is the difference between my jungle Mundo having 200 hp more than he would have if he had to solo it, and I never make my top tank any hits either

Jungler should run armor runes, how is fucked? In the past smite didn't heal. Most junglers have built in healing or high regen/ damage reduction mechanics. I never buy pots on certain junglers like Yi, Xin, WW etc and don't even need leash at all. If you have problems jungling, optimize your runes and mastery pages and learn how to kite the camps.

You are correct, most Jungler's do. Also, I don't have problems Jungling as I play Top lane but from what I can tell leashing Top lane is always a bad time. Either I leash and miss a few CS and struggle against counter picks and enemy camps or I give a shit leash and my Jungler becomes useless and can't do anything for the rest of the game. If I'm going to give that recommended shit leash, I'm not giving any leash at all. Why even bother if most people that I play with can't utilize it anyways?

Also, I know full well that you can solo buffs on most champions with no leash at all. Whenever I jungle I attempt to solo the enemy's red or blue buff at every opportunity I find. The thing is, most of the Junglers I play with are Silver / low Gold players who can't even look at their mini map, let alone pick the right masteries / runes and make good choices in a match.

"Shit leash" what you call a "shit leash" is the huge difference between my jungle Mundo having an extra 200 hp after clearing that red buff, and not having it. When I get what you call a "shit leash" with that big purple boy, I end up with 200 more hp than I would if I didn't get any leash, and bear in mind, I always ping my top laner to get back after like 3-4 autos. It's not a shit leash, you have shit junglers with shitty unoptimized mastery and rune builds, because they're low elo, that's the big difference here. Do the "shit leash" and don't look back, never let the "people that can't utilize it" dictate what you do in your games if you plan to get out of silver/low gold

Why is your trashcan jungle starting in the side with the awful leash when he heavily relies on a good leash for his early clears? Is he boosted? Yes, of course he is, and I guess you aren't much of a jungle guy to know about how this works, either

I have no problems leashing and clearing the first wave. I think you are doing something wrong.

You are completely missing the point. In order to not miss the wave you are required to give a pretty terrible leash if you are Top. Watch a two man leash and look at how low an ADC & Support can take the buff without missing any of the wave. You don't even have to smite OR even potion as a Jungler because a two man leash is so strong. Starting with a leash at Top side has absolutely no advantages and if anything, puts you at a disadvantage.

Top-side:

  1. Worse Leash.
  2. Slower Leash.
  3. Take more damage because you spend more time fighting the buff.
  4. Decent leash requires Top laner to miss 2-3 melee creeps.

Bot-side:

  1. Full amazing leash.
  2. Extremely fast leash.
  3. Take minimal to no damage.
  4. Bot misses absolutely nothing at all regardless of good or bad leash.

Like I said you're doing it wrong.

Not only are you doing it wrong, your junglers are doing it wrong too if they need so much leash help and still decide to start in the red buff. Do the leash like any high tier top laner would, instead of complaining when you sacrifice your first wave for some silver-tier jungler

or your top laner gives you a leash, you go gank them immediately and they get FB :)
