I don't understand why Taliyah is getting nerfed while Udyr isn't
Taliyah jungle is on the rise, with a pretty high playrate in the jungle by comparison to her counterparts with a likewise high winrate. She's at a bit of a point where she can be oppressive.
The thing is that her winrates and playrates are identical to Udyr's, and arguably Udyr having high winrates is worse. But how can that work?
Well, Udyr's had a history. Being played by a certain player (we all know who) brought a following to Udyr before, and this always made Udyr into a playstyle that's inherently toxic to the game - kite, split, duel, repeat. With Udyr's kit so binary and straightforward, this play-style is hard to fuck up when you finally get it down (literally press the button and click the baddies), which means when Udyr is strong, he stays strong.
It's not like Taliyah where you dodge the projectiles. Not like Taliyah where you move out of the way of the rock. Udyr presses Q, clicks on you, then presses E, and clicks on you again, and then you die. Not really any fancy work in the middle, meaning nothing really goes wrong anywhere down the line. This is the same level of reliability and simplicity that Sona received continuous nerfs for for a long while.
So when Udyr is as strong as he is now, something is legitimately wrong with him (something is also wrong with the game, but that's another story). This is evidenced by the fact that his top analyzed players in diamond and up - some of them even into master tier - hit over 70% winrates. This isn't an exaggeration: https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/summoners/udyr
So while Taliyah is certainly strong - there's no doubt about it - the fact that Udyr is not even getting a slap on the wrist while the new bruiser items are about to drop is just utterly unheard of. The items meant to be added in order to help bruisers and duelists like this to be more useful in teamfights - you see nothing wrong with this?
This isn't to say that Udyr is purely braindead or the simplest champ in the game - this isn't Yi, you do actually have to invest some time to get the hang of Udyr. But the thing is that amongst champions that require time investment (Riven, Yasuo, Azir), Udyr is the most reliable. He has zero abilities to aim, minimal cooldowns to worry about - kitwise, he is, as I said, as straightforward as Sona in playing him, just not in understanding. You can't allow a champion so reliable in their kit to be this oppressively strong.
