5 Bans per Team- What Does It Mean For Champion Balance?

Well, individually, per champion, nothing. However, what adding in 2 more bans per team can actually accomplish is allow Riot to make more SYNERGY between champions in their kits. For example, Ivern + Rengar. More bans means entire strategies can be banned out (or multiple strategies if the strats only require 2 champs). Basically, as just a heads up to Riot and the players, 5 bans will allow champion synergies to be much more tolerable since more bans means much more control over what will be allowed into one particular match. With this in mind, it also means that, with strats potentially being pushed more due to his increase in potential strength in champion synergies, bans might be used for more than just banning out the currently most OP champion. Bans might actually be used strategically instead of just "This champion is too powerful, get it outta here". If Riot makes a push for more champion synergies with the new ban system, the Ranked banning phase might end up being a ton more different than now.

In competitive play, sure, but in solo queue, it's pretty much strictly going to be used to keep the most powerful/obnoxious champions out, and adding 4 more bans means that more B-list champions will get to see play.
