I do hope that this edition of Spear of Shojin becomes a separate item, considering it isn't even defensive-oriented anymore.

Revert Essence Reaver to what it was.
Keep Spear of Shojin as it is (a defensive item).
Make a separate new item with this version of Spear of Shojin.

Yes, but the gamemode is being tested for being permanent.

How much people play it while it's up is going to be a major factor in that choice.

Those changes are hilarious. Every few months they just move everything around and call it better, but when they e.g. change IE from a simple AD+crit chance+crit damage item to an AD+crit chance doubler+true damage conversion and then BACK to a simple AD+crit chance+crit damage item, do you hear them saying "this change was a mistake and we apologize"? No.
