why does morde need a rework over a lot of other champs in this game?

and why does he need a rework that will change his playstyle and identity so much that he is barely recognizable, even to the morde mains?

"non-interactive laning" morde has plenty of interaction, but players tend not to play around his weaknesses, and instead try to fight morde in their own minion waves. you know what morde will do? he will E the wave, Q your face, walk away. you did no damage to him while he chunked you for a good part of your hp. harass him down with ranged abilities. CC him with the CC you inevitably have as a champion not named mordekaiser.

if players played smarter around morde instead of hoping to just trade with him blindly then they'd easily take morde down without a hitch. but since a majority of players either don't know morde well enough or just play like imbeciles then they will, of course, lose hard

"binary gameplay" a bunch of other champs are more binary and more shitty to play against. until annie stops existing this argument is null and void

"he's getting buffed overall!" not really. his Q is completely altered to have ramp up time, his W is only usable in duo laning, his E is getting heavy base damage nerfs.

  • the old q is fine because it had easily accessible damage in a fight and he could bounce it off of minions onto enemy champs. now it is single target and relies on people being stupid enough to stand next to morde so he can hit them. he'll get one or maybe two hits off on minions, laner will now walk away, morde is forced to use Q on a minon or just have it expire altogether, and now the enemy laner will walk back up and smack morde around until he is swiss cheese

  • the w is nerfed for solo laners. it is shit for solo laners now and removes any incentive to even put levels in it

  • E is just getting outright nerfed for waveclear if you want to max it. bases removed because they want to make hybrid a thing (hybrid is NEVER good thing to balance)

so we nerf waveclear AND damage on an immobile champion whose big thing is raw damage output with no mobility or CC. https://fedgeno.com/genius.jpg

"changing the meta!!!!!! i sniff markers too" yeah, no. the meta will not be changed. who the fuck wants to take a maybe ok maybe great usually bad botlane champ over consistent DPS? teams are not ever going to give up their tower destroying capability for a situational as fuck dragon.

"but but but rylias and trinity force means he can catch things now!!!!" if rework morde can theoretically build that, then why not build it on current morde???????

because its fucking stupid and it costs way too much gold, that's why. by the time morde builds those expensive as fuck items, the enemy adc has already gotten 3 items, taken botlane inhib tower, and pretty much snowballed the game out of control.

they're taking a champ that's already somewhat "win hard, lose hard" to "win harder, lose harder". that is not healthy gameplay.

"morde lacks counterplay" he has plenty of counterplay right now. his rework offers too much counterplay to a kit which can't really afford it, with too little reward.

changing morde from a champ that is decent but not the best (case in point: why does everyone plays ahri over mordekaiser, a champ with supposedly no counterplay?) into a champ which, admittedly, will be situationally strong, but only situationally so

tldr: morde's rework is unnecessary and pushes more into a lane where he not thrive. a simple champion with solid niche and straightforward gameplay needs no changes.

You're right man. Yorick was healthy to the game too. If he just let you fight him in the bush then you would of probably out traded him. Revert his nerfs!

You're not fooling me. One of the core rules of the game is, early game, Minions hurt. So be careful not to fight in the enemy's wave. This is the same as "Early game, do not fight inside the enemy's tower aggro.

Mordekaiser legitimately breaks this rule. He's more powerful when he fights in your wave, giving you very little options to hide in safety without giving up your farm.

I mean, what if Riot designed a champion who straight up sucked at trades, except when under the opponent's tower (which downright healed him). That's broken on many levels.

It's broken for the opponent because laneing phase would be literally hell for them. It's broken for the player of said champion because they are only relevant during said laneing phase. And if they don't get super fed off the enemy's ignorance then they won't do much for the late game.

This is the problem with Mordekaiser. This is why he needed/needs to be torn from the ground up. Mordekaiser is not supposed to be champion you take along in smurf raids. Which is literally the only time I've ever seen him!

i outright disagree. minions still hurt morde, and he'll be taking plenty of aggro during early game trades, when he's usually able to Q champs.

plenty of matchups are hell for other champs, why is morde any different? he has plenty of counters and plenty of champs he counters. when in doubt, just pick a champ that outranges him. xerath, ziggs, varus, jayce, azir, among others.

early game is where morde is weakest. nobody plays around his strengths and they get punished.

simply put together.

morde is a giant metal dude with massive armor who carries around a mace on his shoulders and both are just for show. because he plays like a litte bitch right now. poke at maximum range with e, run away. wait until the cooldown is back up, repeat until you get the opponent into kill range for the ult. this is how he lanes.

it makes 0 sense for his theme to play like a poke mage. he needed change.

and imo he actually can replace the adc, because he can steal the ghost of an opposing ranged champion, or use the dragon ghost to siege turrets.

all that needs adjustment are his numbers. his new concept is cool.

thats most champs early game. they always play like little bitches. they always try to trade to get that perfect ult off to kill enemies, then, snowball. welcome to league of legends

morde has to play quite aggressive if he wants to maximize damage, which opens up doors to fight and counter him.

well for starters, he isn't wearing the armor; he IS the armor, as it is bound to him

second, everything about his kit generally points to the use of magic, which, indeed, is the focal point of his character, and he uses his mace as an extension of said magic as shown by his Q which is infinitely more interesting (and satisfying) as a spell on live, in my opinion

you know who else will generally poke you with their poke spells until they can kill you? everyone with any form of usable poke whatsoever.

this concept is laughably bad by inherent design of dragon ghost being stupidly overpowered and most of it has no thematic cohesion in the slightest. where would one get the idea that he'll hit you like a wet noodle for two hits and then instantly kill someone on the third? everything about who he is as pain's paladin suggests that he will, in fact, burst you down.
