Why not adc&supp at midlane?

originally when a meta was created, it was preferably that 2 players (also known as ADC&support in current meta) be sent to either mid or bot lane for dragon control but casters go mid cuz ADC, which cant burst enemies quickly enough before they run to safety of turrets, is not optimized to roam from mid, and ADCs have less leisure to roam than any other roles as they scale on gold heavily. With the patch 6.9 rift herald update though, it is very disadvantageous to have the duo be only able to have impact on dragon control but have zero influence on rift herald control.

Not only would sending ADC&supp to midlane would use heavily increase roaming potential of supports like Leona Alistar, but also the duo can swiftly join the jungler for either rift herald or dragon from that lane.

Bronze scrub here, there probably might be some game knowledge that I dont know but diamond+s know

Most mid-laners would be far more vulnerable bottom lane due to their squishiness and/or immobility combined with the length of the lane.

It is fine for most top laners since they are generally duelists or quite durable, so they can often walk away from ganks.

ADC and supports are more difficult to gank since they:

  • Are two champions (and may thus protect one another)
  • Build Sightstone, allowing them to ward multiple routes

While one could argue that many mid-laners would benefit more from being able to roam top or bottom, I'm not really sure how true that would be. One could easily make the argument that the support would be better at roaming since:

  • Their ADC would still be farming and getting experience in mid lane
  • Supports typically have access to quite a bit of CC
  • They could ward gank-paths or the enemy jungle while roaming

It would also provide more pressure on Rift Herald since the ADC and support could roam to it easily.

It might be worth trying if you can get a premade with you to try it.

At the very least, have the players involved (ADC, support, mid) grouped together.

If the mid laner survives to lvl 4, they will have a significant advantage in levels and gold. Most mid laners have some form of cc, burst, or DoT. Not to mention, the time it takes to walk to mid lane is significantly less than walking to top or bot. So even if you do shove a mid laner out of lane they will come back stronger and ready to hit 6.
