Mid Karma-Build

Been wanting to get back into mid Karma lately. Use to build mana item > standard ap. But lately (like the 5 times if seen karma mid in 5 months) I've seen them build a Liandries or at least haunting guise first. I tried it earlier and seemed good but I'm not sure I fully understand why. Is it just the MP? She's not really spammy enough to make use of the passive.

I could see on Mantra Q being a heavy hitting nuke but i still feel there could be a better item over Liandries. Personally I'd like more cdr on her to get more from her utility. Also I may be alone on this but I love on her for the amazing heal baits.

So any Karma players out there with some insight.
